Vacuum selection by recollapsing
نویسنده
چکیده
We discuss the possibility that the vacuum is dynamically determined in the history of the universe. The point is that some of the bubbles with a certain vacuum shrink by the evolution of the universe via gravity and may become black holes. When the temperature of the phase transition TPT is higher than 109 GeV, these black holes evaporate until now. If TPT < 10 9 GeV, we may see these black holes in our universe. It is interesting that in many cases false vacua are favored in the context of cosmology. By using this argument, supersymmetry(SUSY), if it exists, can be broken cosmologically. We can guess the SUSY breaking scale from the mass of the black holes. a e-mail: [email protected]

Testing anthropic predictions for Λ and the CMB temperature
It has been claimed that the observed magnitude of the vacuum energy density is consistent with the distribution predicted in anthropic models, in which an ensemble of universes is assumed. This calculation is revisited, without making the assumption that the CMB temperature is known, and considering in detail the possibility of a recollapsing universe. New accurate approximations for the growt...
متن کاملPositive Vacuum Energy and the N-bound
We argue that the total observable entropy is bounded by the inverse of the cosmological constant. This holds for all space-times with a positive cosmological constant, including cosmologies dominated by ordinary matter, and recollapsing universes. The argument involves intermediate steps which may be of interest in their own right. We note that entropy cannot be observed unless it lies both in...
متن کاملRecollapsing quantum cosmologies and the question of entropy
Recollapsing homogeneous and isotropic models present one of the key ingredients for cyclic scenarios. This is considered here within a quantum cosmological framework in presence of a free scalar field with, in turn, a negative cosmological constant and spatial curvature. Effective equations shed light on the quantum dynamics around a recollapsing phase and the evolution of state parameters suc...
متن کاملThe Third Quantization: To Tunnel or Not to Tunnel?
Within the framework of the third quantization, we consider the possibility that an initially recollapsing baby universe can enter a stage of near de Sitter inflation by tunnelling through a Euclidean wormhole that connects the recollapsing and inflationary geometries. We present the solutions for the evolution of the scale factor in the Lorentzian and Euclidean regions as well as the probabili...
متن کاملArrow of time in a recollapsing quantum universe.
We show that the Wheeler-DeWitt equation with a consistent boundary condition is only compatible with an arrow of time that formally reverses in a recollapsing universe. Consistency of these opposite arrows is facilitated by quantum effects in the region of the classical turning point. Since gravitational time dilation diverges at horizons, collapsing matter must then start re-expanding “antica...
