ver the past two decades. the growing demand for reliability in indust r i a l p r o c e s s e s h a s d r a w n increasing attention to the problem of fault detection and isolation (FDI), but only a lew studies have b e e n d e d i c a t e d t o t h e r e l a t e d fault-tolerant control (FTC) problem. A fault (abrupt or incipient) is any kind of malfunction or degradation in the plant that can lead to a reduction in performance or loss of Important functions, impairing safety.
