Manipulation games in economies with indivisible goods

چکیده

In this paper we study the strategic aspects of the No-Envy solution for the problem of allocating a …nite set of indivisible goods among a group of agents when monetary compensations are possible. In the …rst part of the paper we consider the case where each agent receives, at most, one indivisible good. We prove that the set of equilibrium allocations of any direct revelation game associated with a subsolution of the No-Envy solution coincides with the set of envy-free allocations for the true preferences. Under manipulation all the subsolutions of the No-Envy solution are equivalent. In the second part of the paper, we allow each agent to receive more than one indivisible good. In this situation the above characterization does not hold any more. We prove that any Equal Income Walrasian allocation for the true preferences can be supported as an equilibrium allocation of any direct revelation game associated with subsolutions of the No-Envy solution, but also non-e¢ cient allocations can be supported. I thank Luis Corchón, Bernardo Moreno and the two anonymous referees for their very helpful comments. Implementation of the Walrasian correspondence by market games

In this paper we present a set of axioms guaranteeing that, in exchange economies with or without indivisible goods, the set of Nash, Strong and active Walrasian Equilibria all coincide in the framework of market games.

The Reactive Bargaining Set in Exchange Economies W Ith Indivisibilities and Money

The paper investigates the reactive bargaining set, a solution con cept for TU-games introduced by Granot (1994), in economies in which agents exchange indivisible goods and one perfectly divisible good (money). Under the assumptions that the preferences of the agents are quasi-linear and the initial endowments satisfy the Total Abundance condition, which is an abundance con dition on the mon...

Balancedness of permutation games and envy-free allocations in indivisible good economies

We present a simple proof of the balancedness of permutation games. In the proof we use the existence of envy-free allocations in economies with indivisible objects, quasi-linear utility functions, and an amount of money.  2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.

When is manipulation all about the ones and twos?*

A mechanism is pairwise strategy-proof if groups of size one and two never have an incentive to manipulate. When agents have strict preferences over their own outcomes, I show that pairwise strategy-proofness even eliminates incentives for any group of agents to manipulate, therefore implying group strategy-proofness. It is also equivalent to Maskin monotonicity. I obtain the equivalence result...
