Growing Like China∗

چکیده

We construct a growth model consistent with China’s economic transition: high output growth, sustained returns on capital, reallocation within the manufacturing sector, and a large trade surplus. Entrepreneurial firms use more productive technologies, but due to financial imperfections they must finance investments through internal savings. State-owned firms have low productivity but survive because of better access to credit markets. High-productivity firms outgrow low-productivity firms if entrepreneurs have suffi ciently high savings. The downsizing of financially integrated firms forces domestic savings to be invested abroad, generating a foreign surplus. A calibrated version of the theory accounts quantitatively for China’s economic transition. Effects of climate change and cultivar on summer maize phenology

To identify countermeasures to the effects of climate warming on crop production, we mustunderstand the changes in crop phenology and the relationships between phenology and climatechange and cultivar. We used summer maize phenological and climate data in the North ChinaPlain, collected from 1981 to 2010. This study analyzed the spatiotemporal trends inphenological data and lengths of different...

Lie triple derivation algebra of Virasoro-like algebra

Let $mathfrak{L}$ be the Virasoro-like algebra and $mathfrak{g}$ itsderived algebra, respectively. We investigate the structure of the Lie triplederivation algebra of $mathfrak{L}$ and $mathfrak{g}$. We provethat they are both isomorphic to $mathfrak{L}$, which provides twoexamples of invariance under triple derivation.

Assessing variety mixture of continuous spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) on grain yield and flour quality in Northeast China

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety mixtures represent a relatively unexplored avenue for maintaining yield and improving flour quality. A field experiment was conducted to examine the responses of three spring wheat varieties in pure variety and in variety mixtures under continuous cropping in Northeast China. Three modern spring wheat varieties, along with a three-variety mixture and a t...

Antidepressant-like Effect of a Chalcone Compound, DHIPC and Its Possible Mechanism

DHIPC (2,4-dichloro-2´-hydroxyl-4´,6´-diisoprenyloxychalcone) is a new chalconecompound. In this study, its antidepressant-like activity of compound DHIPC was evaluated bythe forced swimming test and the tail suspension test in mice. The results showed that DHIPCsignificantly reduced the immobility time for 2 h after treatment through the oral administrationat dose of 10, 20, and 30 mg/kg in th...
