چکیده
STUDY POPULATION. This study was a nonrandomized controlled, parallel-group intervention trial with an active study population of 50 consecutively enrolled children aged 5 to 18 years. The study children underwent egg OIT after confirming immunoglobulin (Ig)E-mediated egg allergy by using a double-blind, placebo-controlled egg food challenge (DBPCFC). The control group included 32 children who also had a positiveDBPCFCbut continued avoidance during a median observation period of 18 months.

متن کاملPD27 - Specific antibodies in oral immunotherapy for cow’s milk allergy: kinetics and prediction of clinical outcome
BACKGROUND METHODS for predicting the clinical outcome of specific oral immunotherapy (OIT) would improve the safety of the therapy. METHODS We investigated 40 children aged 6-17 years with IgE-mediated cow's milk allergy (CMA) who either successfully completed OIT (n = 32) or discontinued the therapy due to adverse reactions (n = 8). From sera drawn before and after OIT, we analyzed specific...
متن کاملDebut of Crohn's disease in a child desensitised to cow’s milk
Specific oral immunotherapy (OIT) is a proven therapeutic option in children with persistent food allergy. Several cases of eosinophilic esophagitis have been reported during the long term follow-up, but not inflammatory bowel diseases. The role of food allergy in the pathogenesis of these diseases is unknown. We present an 11 year-old girl who developed cow’s milk allergy (CMA) at the age of 5...
متن کاملNew efficacy of LTRAs (montelukast sodium): it possibly prevents food-induced abdominal symptoms during oral immunotherapy
BACKGROUND The aim of the study was to elucidate whether leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs) can prevent severe allergic reactions, which occur during oral immunotherapy (OIT) in children with food allergies. FINDINGS Five children with food allergies [3 allergic to hen's egg (HE), 1 to wheat, and one to cow's milk (CM); aged between 7 and 12 years; median, 8.5 years] who were started on...
متن کاملOral Immunotherapy With Partially Hydrolyzed Wheat-Based Cereals: A Pilot Study
To date, only few studies have assessed oral immunotherapy (OIT) for wheat allergy and often describe severe adverse reactions during therapy. We developed partially hydrolyzed wheat-based cereals (pHC), which were used in a multicenter, open-label, OIT pilot study, in immunoglobulin E-mediated wheat allergy children (NCT01332084). The primary objective of the study was to test whether wheat al...
