Primary disseminated fusarial infection.

چکیده
Among the fungal pathogens the species Fusariam solani causing systemic infection is very rare and generally causes systemic infection only in an immuno-compromised host. We report a systemic infection caused by F. solani in a non-immunocompromised adult male, to our knowledge the first such case report.

Fusarium infections in immunocompromised patients.
Fusarium species cause a broad spectrum of infections in humans, including superficial, locally invasive, and disseminated infections. The clinical form of fusariosis depends largely on the immune status of the host and the portal of entry, with superficial and localized disease occurring mostly in immunocompetent patients and invasive and disseminated disease affecting immunocompromised patien...
متن کاملMixed infection caused by two species of Fusarium in a human immunodeficiency virus-positive patient.
We report on a case of mixed infection caused by two species of Fusarium in a human immunodeficiency virus-positive patient with lymphoma who was neutropenic due to chemotherapy. The patient showed the typical signs of a disseminated fusarial infection, with Fusarium solani isolated from skin lesions and F. verticillioides isolated from blood. The report discusses how difficult it is to make an...
متن کاملIncreased Incidence of Invasive Fusariosis with Cutaneous Portal of Entry, Brazil
Invasive fusariosis (IF) is an infection with Fusarium spp. fungi that primarily affects patients with hematologic malignancies and hematopoietic cell transplant recipients. A cutaneous portal of entry is occasionally reported. We reviewed all cases of IF in Brazil during 2000-2010, divided into 2 periods: 2000-2005 (period 1) and 2006-2010 (period 2). We calculated incidence rates of IF and of...
متن کاملSuccessful voriconazole therapy of disseminated Fusarium solani in the brain of a neutropenic cancer patient.
Although Aspergillus remains the most common of the opportunistic molds in patients with hematologic malignancies, disseminated Fusarium infection is increasingly encountered as more aggressive chemotherapeutic regimens and bone marrow transplants lead to prolonged neutropenia.1-11 Most frequently pathogenic to man is F solani, followed by F oxysporum, F verticillioides, and F proliferatum as th...
متن کاملA Case of Probable MHC Class II Deficiency with Disseminated BCGitis
Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II deficiency is a primary immunodeficiency disease characterized by abnormality of MHC class II molecules surface expression on peripheral blood lymphocytes and monocytes. Clinical manifestations include extreme susceptibility to viral, bacterial, and fungal infections but the immunodeficiency is not as severe as SCID (severe combined immunodeficien...
