چکیده

In the rat renin induces an intense but transient proteinuria, associated with the excretion of fibrinogen but not accompanied by any evidence of damage to the glomerulus. The inactivation of renin with respect to its pressor effect leads to a loss of its capacity to induce proteinuria. Angiotonin, when given in large amounts, induces proteinuria in the rat. It is concluded that this form of proteinuria is dependent on the pressor action of renin.

Studies on the Mechanism of Experimental Proteinuria

When renin is administered intramuscularly to the rat, massive proteinuria occurs without a significant elevation of mean arterial blood pressure. The intravenous administration of renin to normal rats results in a great increase in urinary protein excretion. This response to renin is abolished by bilateral adrenalectomy. While the adrenalectomized rat fails to respond to intravenous renin with...

Studies on the Mechanism of Experimental Proteinuria Induced by Renin

Renin-induced proteinuria in the rat was investigated, with special emphasis on the relationship between the enzymatic activity and the proteinuric effect of renin. The dependence of the proteinuric effect on the enzymatic activity was shown by using (a) renin preparations of widely varying purity and (b) chemically modified "active" and "inactive" renin derivatives. Angiotensin II, the pressor...

Renin excretion in patients with renal disease.

The renal handling of renin was studied in normal subjects and in patients with predominant tubular and glomerular damage. The renin in plasma and urine was assayed in the blood pressure preparation of the rat. Excessive renin excretion occurred only in patients with proximal tubular dysfunction and was not related to creatinine clearance, proteinuria or plasma renin levels. However, a signific...

The renin-aldosterone axis in two models of reduced renal mass in the rat.

The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system participates in chronic progressive renal disease. The studies presented here assessed the importance of aldosterone in two different methods of reduced kidney mass in the rat, i.e., the infarction model (INF; uninephrectomy plus infarction of approximately two-thirds of the other kidney) and surgical excision or polectomy (POL; uninephrectomy plus surgi...

Increased Risk of Kidney Disorders in Patients with Coronavirus 2019: A Letter to the Editor

Background and Objectives: Coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) has become a global disease that can affect various organs of the human body. Kidney disorders are the most common disorders in patients with Covid-19. Kidney involvement manifests as proteinuria and acute kidney injury (AKI). This virus can cause acute tubular necrosis, protein leakage in the Bowman's capsule, glomerulopathy, and mitochond...
