Interactive Applets in Calculus and Engineering Courses

چکیده
In the fall of 2000, a group in the MIT Mathematics Department began work on a suite of computer applets (“MIT Mathlets”) designed to support basic MIT mathematics education. For a report on this work and a review of relevant literature see Miller and Upton [3]. The current state of this collection, along with supplementary material, can be found at http://math.mit.edu/mathlets/. The intent of this chapter is to discuss the recent design and application of two new families of MIT Mathets serving very different audiences: • Calculus tools designed for self-learners and delivered over the internet through MIT OpenCourseWare. • Tools designed for use in an aerospace engineering classroom workshop to aid in understanding the stability of certain difference schemes.

Using a modular construction kit for the realization of an interactive Computer Graphics course
In [8] we described the concept and realization of a interactive computer graphics course combining lectures, example applets, programming exercises, documentation etc. within a common sophisticated web-based framework. This course allowed for adequate teaching of topics that require both, visualization and interaction. Although it greatly simplifies teaching and learning of the various content...

Publication describes the author’s experience in the development of illustrative dynamic materials for eLearning courses. The presented illustrations offer multiply interactive possibilities for a student and powerful flexibility in creating theoretical or control pages for a teacher. Both specialized and universal ways for illuminating of educational materials are discussed. All interactive dy...

1 Charles Nippert, Widener University, Chester PA, [email protected] Abstract The Online Widener Laboratories (OWL) provide an interactive online experience that is used in several web-enhanced courses. The extensive use of JAVA applets for complex simulations allows for 24/7 availability and multiple simultaneous users using a moderately sized server. This system has been used to...
متن کاملDigital Design Learning System Based on Java Applets
In this paper, we offer tools which support the learning process in computer engineering area. The greater part of the tools is intended mainly to illustrate problems in control intensive digital systems such as investigation of tradeoffs between the system’s speed and the cost of hardware, control part decomposition, simulation, fault simulation, test generation, built-in self-test, and some o...
