چکیده

The Characteristic Bisection Method for finding the roots of non-linear algebraic and/or transcendental equations is applied to LiNC/LiCN molecular system to locate periodic orbits and to construct the continuation/bifurcation diagram of the bend mode family. The algorithm is based on the Characteristic Polyhedra which define a domain in phase space where the topological degree is not zero. The results are compared with previous calculations obtained by the Newton Multiple Shooting algorithm. The Characteristic Bisection Method not only reproduces the old results, but also, locates new symmetric and asymmetric families of periodic orbits of high multiplicity.  2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Application of efficient composite methods for computing with certainty periodic orbits in molecular systems

Recently, we have proposed a technique for the computation of periodic orbits in molecular systems, based on the characteristic bisection method [Vrahatis et al., Comput. Phys. Commun. 138 (2001) 53]. The main advantage of the characteristic bisection method is that it converges with certainty within a given starting rectangular region. In this paper we further improve this technique by applyin...

Efficient Method for Computing with Certainty Periodic Orbits on a Surface of Section

We present an improved method for locating periodic orbits of a dynamical system of arbitrary dimension. The method first employs the characteristic bisection method (CBM) to roughly locate a periodic orbit, followed by the quadratically convergent Newton method to rapidly refine its position. The method is applied to the physically interesting example of the two degrees of freedom photogravita...

Locating periodic orbits by Topological Degree theory

We consider methods based on the topological degree theory to compute periodic orbits of area preserving maps. Numerical approximations to the Kronecker integral give the number of fixed points of the map provided that the integration step is small ''enough''. Since in any neighborhood of a fixed point the map gets four different combination of its algebraic signs we use points on a lattice to ...

Time-Invariant State Feedback Control Laws for a Special Form of Underactuated Nonlinear Systems Using Linear State Bisection

Linear state bisection is introduced as a new method to find time-invariant state feedback control laws for a special form of underactuated nonlinear systems. The specialty of the systems considered is that every unactuated state should be coupled with at least two directly actuated states. The basic idea is based on bisecting actuated states and using linear combinations with adjustable parame...

Stabilization of chaotic systems via fuzzy time-delayed controller approac

In this paper, we investigate the stabilization of unstable periodic orbits of continuous time chaotic systems usingfuzzy time-delayed controllers. For this aim, we present a control method that can achieve stabilization of an unstableperiodic orbit (UPO) without any knowledge of the system model. Our proposal is attained progressively. First, wecombine the input-to-state linearizing controller...
