چکیده

We have fabricated submicron giant magnetoresistive (GMR) structures and evaluated their sensitivity for biomagnetic applications. GMR devices were fabricated using electron beam lithography, with minimum dimensions below 100 nm. We developed a new characterization technique for these sensors, using a scanned nanoscale magnetic probe and monitoring the resulting response of the sensors. The magnetic field from the scanned probe is similar to that generated by the magnetic particles used to tag bioanalytes. The devices demonstrated extremely high magnetic field resolution. Noise measurements, combined with a local field sensitivity from the scanned probe measurements, predict a s c A f ©

Ultrasensitive Magnetic Nanoparticle Detector for Biosensor Applications

Ta/Ru/Co/Ru/Co/Cu/Co/Ni80Fe20/Ta spin-valve giant magnetoresistive (GMR) multilayers were deposited using UHV magnetron sputtering and optimized to achieve a 13% GMR ratio before patterning. The GMR multilayer was patterned into 12 sensor arrays using a combination of e-beam and optical lithographies. Arrays were constructed with 400 nm × 400 nm and 400 nm × 200 nm sensors for the detection of ...

A Magnetoresistive Tactile Sensor for Harsh Environment Applications

A magnetoresistive tactile sensor is reported, which is capable of working in high temperatures up to 140 °C. Hair-like bioinspired structures, known as cilia, made out of permanent magnetic nanocomposite material on top of spin-valve giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensors are used for tactile sensing at high temperatures. The magnetic nanocomposite, consisting of iron nanowires incorporated into...

Model for detection of immobilized superparamagnetic nanosphere assay labels using giant magnetoresistive sensors

Commercially available superparamagnetic nanospheres are commonly used in a wide range of biological applications, particularly in magnetically assisted separations. A new and potentially significant technology involves the use of these particles as labels in magnetoresistive assay applications. In these assays, magnetic bead labels are used like fluorescent labels except that the beads are exc...
