Flow Results and Hints of Incomplete Thermalization
نویسنده
چکیده
We classified v2 measurements according to their sensitivities w.r.t. to two planes, namely, reaction plane and participant plane. Likewise, in v2/ǫ scaling, we showed that one needs to choose a ǫ that is sensitive to the same plane as that v2 is sensitive to. We presented our v2/ǫ as a function of centrality and transverse momentum. We studied the ratio of v4/v 2 2 . We discussed the applicable range for hydrodynamics, as well as implications to an incomplete thermalization.

Hints of incomplete thermalization in RHIC data
The large elliptic flow observed in Au–Au collisions at RHIC is often put forward as a compelling evidence for the formation of a strongly-interacting quark-gluon plasma. The main argument is that the measured elliptic flow is as large as the value given by fluid-dynamics models that assume complete thermalization. It is argued that this claim may not be justified, since a detailed examination ...
متن کاملHints of Thermalization from RHIC Experiments
Selected results from the first five years of RHIC data taking are reviewed with emphasis on evidence for thermalization in central Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV.
متن کاملTwo RHIC puzzles: Early thermalization and the HBT problem
Hadron spectra from the first year RHIC run are shown to be excellently reproduced by hydrodynamic calculations. We argue that in particular the elliptic flow data provide strong evidence for early thermalization at RHIC, at energy densities well above deconfinement, but that the phenomenologically extracted short thermalization time scale of less than 1 fm/c provides a serious challenge for th...
متن کاملNeXSPheRIO results on elliptic flow at RHIC and connection with thermalization
Elliptic flow at RHIC is computed event-by-event with NeXSPhe-RIO. Reasonable agreement with experimental results on v 2 (η) is obtained. Various effects are studied as well: reconstruction of impact parameter direction , freeze out temperature, equation of state (with or without crossover), emission mecanism. 1. Motivation Hydrodynamics seems a correct tool to describe RHIC collisions however ...
متن کاملRapidity dependent momentum anisotropy at RHIC
In Au+Au collisions at RHIC, elliptic flow was found to rapidly decrease as a function of rapidity. We argue that the origin of this phenomenon is incomplete thermalization of the initial fireball outside the midrapidity region and show that it can be quantitatively related to the analogous effect at midrapidity in peripheral collisions and in collisions at lower beam energies.
