Toward a probabilistic definition of seizures.

چکیده
This writing (1) draws attention to the intricacies inherent to the pursuit of a universal seizure definition even when powerful, well-understood signal analysis methods are used to this end; (2) identifies this aim as a multi-objective optimization problem and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of adopting or rejecting a unitary seizure definition; and (3) introduces a probabilistic measure of seizure activity to manage this thorny issue. The challenges posed by the attempt to define seizures unitarily may be partly related to their fractal properties and understood through a simplistic analogy to the so-called "Richardson effect." A revision of the time-honored conceptualization of seizures may be warranted to further advance epileptology. This article is part of a Supplemental Special Issue entitled The Future of Automated Seizure Detection and Prediction.

A modification of probabilistic hesitant fuzzy sets and its application to multiple criteria decision making
Probabilistic hesitant fuzzy set (PHFS) is a fruitful concept that adds to hesitant fuzzy set (HFS) the term of probability which is able to retain more information than the usual HFS. Here, we demonstrate that the existing definitions of PHFS are not still reasonable, and therefore, we first improve the PHFS definition. By endowing the set and algebraic operations with a new re-definition of P...
متن کاملProbabilistic Sufficiency and Algorithmic Sufficiency from the point of view of Information Theory
Given the importance of Markov chains in information theory, the definition of conditional probability for these random processes can also be defined in terms of mutual information. In this paper, the relationship between the concept of sufficiency and Markov chains from the perspective of information theory and the relationship between probabilistic sufficiency and algorithmic sufficien...
متن کاملSome properties of continuous linear operators in topological vector PN-spaces
The notion of a probabilistic metric space corresponds to thesituations when we do not know exactly the distance. Probabilistic Metric space was introduced by Karl Menger. Alsina, Schweizer and Sklar gave a general definition of probabilistic normed space based on the definition of Menger [1]. In this note we study the PN spaces which are topological vector spaces and the open mapping an...
متن کاملToward a Computational Analysis of Probabilistic Argumentation Frameworks
In this paper we analyze probabilistic argumentation frameworks (PAFs), defined as an extension of Dung abstract argumentation frameworks in which each argument is asserted with a probability . The debate around PAFs has so far centered on their theoretical definition and basic properties. This work contributes to their computational analysis by proposing a first recursive algorithm to compute ...
