Non-invasive MR Demonstration of the Fistula between Pancreatic Pseudocyst and Portal Vein: A Case Report

چکیده
Acute pancreatitis is a common disease with a wide variety of complications. Most cases of acute pancreatitis are mild with rapid recovery and good prognosis. However, in 20-30% of cases, the clinical course can be severe with life-threatening complications such as extensive pancreatic necrosis, pancreatic abscess formation, and vascular complications (1). Pancreatic pseudocyst is a well-known complication of acute or chronic pancreatitis. And vascular complications related to pancreatic pseudocyst include pseudoaneurysm formation, arterial hemorrhage, and venous thrombosis. Pseudocyst rupture into the portal vein is a very rare complication and only a few cases are reported in literature (2-6). We report a case of fistula formation between the pseudocyst and the portal vein, diagnosed noninvasively by ultrasonography (US), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Spontaneous pancreatic pseudocyst–portal vein fistula: a rare and potentially life threatening complication of pancreatitis
Pseudocyst formation following acute and chronic pancreatitis is a well known complication. A pancreatic pseudocyst fistulating into the portal vein is a rare and potentially fatal complication. We report a case of pancreatic pseudocyst - portal vein fistula, which was managed with a conservative approach.

Pancreatic pseudocyst-portal vein fistulae are extremely rare, and cause serious complications, including life-threatening sepsis. We report a 57-year-old man with pancreatic pseudocyst who was admitted to our hospital complaining of prolonged abdominal pain. A pancreatic duct tube was placed into the main pancreatic duct, as the pseudocyst was communicated to the pancreatic duct. He fell into ...

Pancreatic pseudocyst is a relatively common occurrence resulting from acute or chronic pancreatitis. However, a rare subset of these patients present with a pseudocyst fistulizing into the portal vein. We present the case of a 58 year-old woman with a rapidly expanding pancreatic pseudocyst with portal venous fistulization causing portal vein thrombosis, in addition to biliary and duodenal obs...
متن کاملMRI diagnosis of rupture of pancreatic pseudocyst into portal vein: case report and review of literature
Rupture into the portal vein is a rare complication of a pancreatic pseudocyst. Only 15 cases of such an incidence have been described in the literature. Only one of these was diagnosed with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the rest being diagnosed using other invasive diagnostic modalities or at surgery. We report a case of this rare complication diagnosed on MRI and also describe the demonst...

Pseudocysts containing activated enzymes are a common complication of pancreatitis. Pseudocysts can rupture into adjacent structures including the peritoneal cavity, adjacent organs, and rarely vascular structures. While arterial pseudoaneurysms and venous thrombosis or occlusion are well known complications of acute and chronic pancreatitis, only 17 cases of pancreas-portal venous fistula have...
