چکیده

This talk presents a new approach for achieving both full rate and full transmit diversity. The techniques in this talk work on a symbol by symbol basis and so are called spatial modulators. When there is only a single receive antenna, the goal is to design the modulator at each transmit antenna so that(even for the worst case realization of the channel coefficients) the scheme achieves the capacity of the single transmitter multiple receiver system with the same channel coefficients. The talk presents two approaches to modulator design. The first expands the constellation by using a set of random phase sequences to modulate the transmitted symbol at each antenna. The receiver thus sees an equivalent single antenna system with an expanded and distorted constellation. The second approach does not increase the constellation size and transmits different permutations of the same constellation from different antennas. The permutations can be designed either algebraically or numerically and the receiver thus sees a distorted constellation that depends on the channel realization. In addition to being full rate and full diversity (which is impossible for coventional spacetime codes except in special cases) these schemes are potentially very simple to implement.

Low Complexity Precoding of BICMB- OFDM-SG for Wireless Broadband System

Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO) techniques can achieve higher throughput and improved reliability in wireless broadband communications by exploiting spatial diversity in multiple-antenna wireless communications. By combining the spatial diversity and spatial multiplexing we can fully exploit the MIMO channel capacity. BitInterleaved Coded Multiple Beamforming (BICMB) can achieve both spatial div...

Arbitrary manipulation of spatial amplitude and phase using phase-only spatial light modulators

Spatial structure of a light beam is an important degree of freedom to be extensively explored. By designing simple configurations with phase-only spatial light modulators (SLMs), we show the ability to arbitrarily manipulate the spatial full field information (i.e. amplitude and phase) of a light beam. Using this approach to facilitating arbitrary and independent control of spatial amplitude a...

Full complex Fresnel holograms displayed on liquid crystal devices

We propose a method to display full complex Fresnel holograms by adding the information displayed on two analogue ferroelectric liquid crystal spatial light modulators. One of them works in real-only configuration and the other in imaginary-only mode. The Fresnel holograms are computed by backpropagating an object at a selected distance with the Fresnel transform. Then, displaying the real and ...

Pseudorandom phase-only encoding of real-time spatial light modulators.

We previously proposed a method of mapping full-complex spatial modulations into phase-only modulations. The Fourier transform of the encoded modulations approximates that of the original complex modulations. The amplitude of each pixel is encoded by the property that the amplitude of a random-phasor sum is reduced corresponding to its standard deviation. Pseudorandom encoding is designed for p...

Performance of MIMO Techniques to Achieve Full Diversity and Maximum Spatial Multiplexing

In this paper, we analyze the performance of bit interleaved coded multiple beamforming (BICMB). We provide interleaver design criteria such that the resulting system achieves full spatial multiplexing of min(N, M) and full spatial diversity of NM for a system with N transmit and M receive antennas. We combined BICMB with OFDM in order to combat ISI caused by the frequency selective channels. T...
