چکیده

Transchondral fracture, osteochondral fracture, osteochondritis or dome fracture are all terms used to describe similar lesions ofthe talus. Although this lesion has been extensively studied (Berndt and Harty 1959; Mukherjee and Young 1973; Yvars 1976; Alexander and Lichtman 1980; Canale and Belding 1980; O’Farrell and Costello 1982), several questions of clinical relevance remain unanswered, such as : does delay in diagnosis or in operative treatment affect the result; are the results affected by the type of fracture ; do the results deteriorate with time; and what is the best method of treatment? Our study was designed to address these questions and to provide possible answers.

Dome fracture of the talus. A report of ten cases.

The dome of the talus is the part that articulates with the ankle mortice formed by the lower articular surfaces of tibia and fibula. A fracture of this part of the talus may be called a dome fracture. Such fractures are not common and the significance of the original radiographic appearance is not always appreciated. Definitive treatment is therefore often unnecessarily delayed ; this has been...

Extra-articular extrusion of an osteochondral fragment of the talar dome.

Osteochondral fractures of the talus are uncommon. They are classified according to Berndt and Harty, as progressing in severity through four stages. This classification, however, does not address extra-articular extrusion of the osteochondral fragment. We report an osteochondral lesion of the talar dome which presented as an extruded extra-articular fragment in a closed injury of the ankle. Th...

Allograft juvenile articular cartilage transplantation for treatment of talus osteochondral defects.

UNLABELLED Osteochondral (OCD) lesions of the talus are frequent sequelae of traumatic ankle injuries such as ankle sprains, fractures, and recurrent ankle instability. Initial management of talus lesions in most cases involves arthroscopy and microfracture/curettage. Tissue resulting from the microfracture is fibrocartilage. Clinical improvement in pain is seen in approximately 75% to 85% of p...
