Rapid imaging of peripheral vascular calcifications using in-phase, two-dimensional radial flash at 3 Tesla

چکیده
Background The presence of dense peripheral vascular calcifications has negative prognostic implications in patients with peripheral arterial disease. In addition, the presence of dense calcifications may alter the choice of peripheral access site for patients undergoing percutaneous revascularization or TAVR procedures. Peripheral MR angiography is commonly used as an alternative to CT angiography for the evaluation of patients with PAD. While peripheral vascular calcifications are readily depicted with CT angiography, they are inapparent with MR angiography. We have previously demonstrated the ability of tailored 3D acquisitions to detect peripheral vascular calcifications [1]. However, these acquisitions are time-consuming and sensitive to patient motion. In order to overcome these limitations, we developed an alternative 2D approach using an in-phase radial FLASH pulse sequence. The technique was evaluated it in patients with peripheral vascular calcifications, using CT as the reference standard.

Advances in real-time phase-contrast flow MRI using asymmetric radial gradient echoes.
PURPOSE To provide multidimensional velocity compensation for real-time phase-contrast flow MRI. METHODS The proposed method introduces asymmetric gradient echoes for highly undersampled radial FLASH MRI with phase-sensitive image reconstruction by regularized nonlinear inversion (NLINV). Using an adapted gradient delay correction the resulting image quality was analyzed by simulations and ex...

Ursolic acid (UA) is a major bioactive component in many traditional medicinal plants including pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) flower. In vitro and in vivo studies have both revealed that UA has many important biological functions. In this study, a rapid and efficient procedure for preparation of UA from an Iranian pomegranate flower cultivar using ultrasound-assisted extraction fo...
متن کاملBreath-hold imaging of the coronary arteries using quiescent-interval slice-selective (qiss) magnetic resonance angiography - pilot study at 1.5 tesla and 3 tesla
BACKGROUND Coronary magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is usually obtained with a free-breathing navigator-gated 3D acquisition. Our aim was to develop an alternative breath-hold approach that would allow the coronary arteries to be evaluated in a much shorter time and without risk of degradation by respiratory motion artifacts. For this purpose, we implemented a breath-hold, non-contrast-enh...
متن کاملCalculation of total dose and dose equivalent distribution in the treatment of lung cancer using MR-guided carbon therapy
Nowadays, in order to improve the accuracy of treatment in radiation therapy, there are many attempts to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) due to the advantages of excellent soft tissue contrast and ultra-fast pulse sequences. On the other hand, carbon-ion radiation therapy is developing rapidly due to the benefits of greater relative biological effectiveness (RBE) and the application in the...

Objective(s): Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbimortality with over half cardiovascular events occurring in the asymptomatic population by traditional risk stratification. This preliminary study aimed to evaluate systemic plaque vulnerability in patients with prior Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) with a single Whole Body [FDG] PET-CT scan in terms of plaq...
