چکیده

The aim of this work is to analyze a viscous flow in the axisymmetric nozzle taken into account the mesh size both in the free stream and into the boundary layer. The resolution of the NavierStokes equations is realized by using the finite volume method to determine the supersonic flow parameters at the exit of convergingdiverging nozzle. The numerical technique uses the Flux Vector Splitting method of Van Leer. Here, adequate time stepping parameter, along with CFL coefficient and mesh size level is selected to ensure numerical convergence. The effect of the boundary layer thickness is significant at the exit of the nozzle. The best solution is obtained with using a very fine grid, especially near the wall, where we have a strong variation of velocity, temperature and shear stress. This study enabled us to confirm that the determination of boundary layer thickness can be obtained only if the size of the mesh is lower than a certain value limits given by our calculations. Effect of Mesh Size on the Supersonic Viscous Flow Parameters around an Axisymmetric Blunt Body

The aim of this work is to analyze a viscous flow around the axisymmetric blunt body taken into account the mesh size both in the free stream and into the boundary layer. The resolution of the Navier-Stokes equations is realized by using the finite volume method to determine the flow parameters and detached shock position. The numerical technique uses the Flux Vector Splitting method of Van Lee...

EFFECT OF TIME-DEPENDENT TRANSPIRATION ON AXISYMMETRIC STAGNATION-POINT FLOW AND HEATTRANSFER OF A VISCOUS FLUID ON A MOVING CIRCULAR CYLINDER

Effect of time dependent normal transpiration on the problem of unsteady viscous flow and heat transfer in the vicinity of an axisymmetric stagnation point of an infinite circular cylinder moving simultaneously with time-depended angular and axial velocities and with time-dependent wall temperature or wall heat flux are investigated. The impinging free stream is steady with a strain rate . A re...

Mean Velocity and Static Pressure in a Sharp-edge Circular Nozzle Jet

An axisymmetric jet issued from a sharp edged circular convergent nozzle has been studied experimentally in the near field at Reynolds number 5.3x104  to search the saddle shape behavior of mean velocity and the role of mean static pressure in the jet flow. Due to the vena contracta effect the centerline mean velocity of the jet increases about 4.2% of its exit value and corresponding decrease ...

Approximate Viscous Shock-Layer Analysis of Axisymmetric Bodies in Perfect Gas Hypersonic Flow

In this paper, an approximate axisymmetric method is developed which can reliably calculate fully viscous hypersonic flow over blunt-nosed bodies. In this method, a Maslen’s second-order pressure expression is used instead of the normal momentum equation. The combination of Maslen’s second-order pressure expression and viscous shock layer equations is developed to accurately and efficiently com...

Influence of nozzle geometry and injection conditions on the cavitation flow inside a diesel injector

Cavitation and turbulence in a diesel injector nozzle has a great effect on the development and primary breakup of spray. However, the mechanism of the cavitation flow inside the nozzle and its influence on spray characteristics have not been clearly known yet because of the internal nozzle flow complexities. In this paper, a comprehensive numerical simulation is carried out to study the intern...
