A Voice and Audio Server for Multimedia Workstations

The role of the VOX Audio Server is to perform for audio what current state-of-the-art window servers (such as the X Window System server) have done for graphics. VOX provides integrated access to and control of voice, audio, and telephony capabilities. It provides for the dynamic configuration of audio devices and their sharing between multiple applications. The server will provide a rapid prototyping environment and support application areas ineluding telephone management, voice-annotation, conversational answering machines, and real-time teleconferenang.
