چکیده
INTERVENTIONS Once apnoeic after induction of general anaesthesia, face mask ventilation began with pressure controlled ventilation, at a peak inspiratory pressure of 15 cmH2O. Each patient was ventilated for three 1-min intervals with the head position alternated every minute: group A, mask ventilation was performed with a neutral head position for 1 min, followed by an axial head position rotated 458 to the right for 1 min and then returned to the neutral

Comparison of effectiveness of two commonly used two-handed mask ventilation techniques on unconscious apnoeic obese adults.
Background. Mask ventilation and tracheal intubation are basic techniques for airway management and mutually inclusive rescue measures to restore ventilation. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of mask ventilation between two commonly used techniques of two-handed mask ventilation in obese unconscious apnoeic adults. Methods. Eighty-one obese adults received mask ventilati...
متن کاملThe effect of patient positions, Sound production and neck rewind on Mallampati grading and classification to predict difficult mask ventilation in patients
Aims and background: The difficulty of ventilation with masks is one of the most common causes of severe respiratory consequences in the field of anesthesia. Objective: To evaluate the effect of patient position, voice production and neck rejection on the Mallamapati grade, in order to predict the difficulty of ventilation with mask in patients. Materials and Methods: This research was of a pr...

Back ground & Aims: In the edentulous patients some authors suggest to leave dentures in when ventilating with bag-mask. In this research, we suggest a more efficient method. Materials & Methods: In the prospective blind randomized clinical trial we included 200 patients (age≥55) into two groups. After induction of anesthesia in all groups, in the group I, we placed folded gauze in each bucca...
متن کاملThe effect of head rotation on efficiency of ventilation and cuff pressure using the PLMA in pediatric patients
BACKGROUND This study examined whether changing the head position from neutral to side can affect expiratory tidal volume (TV) and cuff pressure when the appropriate sizes of a Proseal™ Laryngeal Mask Airway (PLMA)-depending on the body weight -are used in pediatric patients during pressure controlled ventilation (PCV). METHODS Seventy-seven children (5-30 kg) were divided into three groups a...
متن کاملA comparative study of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) in patients with flail chest.
INTRODUCTION The role of non-invasive positive pressure ventilation delivered through a face mask in patients with flail chest is uncertain. We conducted a prospective, randomised study of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) given via a face mask to spontaneously breathing patients compared with intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) with endotracheal intubation (ETI) in 52 pa...
