Sonographic prediction of fetal macrosomia: The relationship between estimated fetal weight and mode of delivery

چکیده

Methods This is a retrospective cohort study carried out at the Orenburg Municipal Perinatal Center and Maternity Hospital No 2 from 2006 to 2012. In this study 3760 pregnancy outcomes were analyzed. The estimated fetal sonographic weight by Hadlock’s formula was obtained within the last week prior to delivery. The study population was divided into 4 groups (true positive, true negative, false positive, false negative) according to the estimated fetal weight (EFW) and birth weight (BW). Receiver-operating characteristics (ROC) curves were generated to compare the prediction of macrosomia when using different observation methods. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) and accuracy were calculated. The mean value of the two groups was compared using two sample t test and χ2 test for comparison of proportions.

Background: Fetal hyperinsulinemia correlated with large birth weight and impaired glucose tolerance test and obesity in second decades of life. In this study we compared the correlation between fetal insulin production (as estimated by amniotic fluid (AF) C-peptide concentration) and AF insulin with macrosomia (as estimated by neonatal birth weight 4000 gr). Methods: Thirty eight neonates were...

Sonographic estimation of fetal weight in term pregnant women

Introduction: Deviation from normal fetal weight and growth contribute to morbidity and mortality in the perinatal period. Over 50 formulas for EFW (estimated fetal weight) have been published and yet the ideal formula has not been determined. The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of sonographic estimation of fetal weight using Hadlock formula in comparison to birth weight....
