چکیده

|New reactive behaviors that implement formations in multi-robot teams are presented and evaluated. The formation behaviors are integrated with other navigational behaviors to enable a robotic team to reach navigational goals, avoid hazards and simultaneously remain in formation. The behaviors are implemented in simulation, on robots in the laboratory and aboard DARPA's HMMWV-based Unmanned Ground Vehicles. The technique has been integrated with the Autonomous Robot Architecture (AuRA) and the UGV Demo II architecture. The results demonstrate the value of various types of formations in autonomous, human-led and communications-restricted applications, and their appropriateness in di erent types of task environments. Keywords| Autonomous robots, robot formation, behavior-based control.

Application of an Artificial Neural Tissue Controller to Multirobot Lunar ISRU Operations

Automation of mining and resource utilization processes on the Moon with teams of autonomous robots holds considerable promise for establishing a lunar base. We present an Artificial Neural Tissue (ANT) architecture as a control system for autonomous multirobot tasks. An Artificial Neural Tissue (ANT) approach requires much less human supervision and pre-programmed human expertise than previous...

Choosing Autonomy Modes for Multirobot Search

OBJECTIVE The number of robots an operator can supervise increases with the robots' level of autonomy. The reported study investigates multirobot foraging to identify aspects of the task most suitable for automation. BACKGROUND Many envisioned applications of robotics involve multirobot teams. One of the simplest of these applications is foraging, in which robots are operated independently to...
