Prenatal Diagnosis of Pulmonary Atresia with Intact Ventricular Septum

چکیده
Hypoplasia of the right ventricle is uncommon as an isolated entity. It may result from tricuspid atresia, but is most commonly secondary to pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum. Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum is rare, accounting for 1-3% of cases of congenital heart disease. It occurs in 0.1 to 0.4 in 10,000 live births. Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum has been reported to occur slightly more frequently in males.

Association of pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum and aortic valve stenosis. Prenatal diagnosis.
A rare association of pulmonary atresia with an intact septum was diagnosed through echocardiography in a fetus 32 weeks of gestational age. The diagnosis was later confirmed by echocardiography of the newborn infant and further on autopsy. The aortic valve was bicuspid with a pressure gradient of 81 mmHg, and the right ventricle was hypoplastic, as were the pulmonary trunk and arteries, and th...
متن کاملPrenatal diagnosis of right ventricular outflow tract obstruction with intact ventricular septum, and detection of ventriculocoronary connections.
OBJECTIVES To determine the accuracy of prenatal diagnosis of pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum (PAIVS), and pulmonary stenosis, including prenatal detection of ventriculocoronary connections, to evaluate heart size during the prenatal period, and to evaluate the outcome. DESIGN AND PATIENTS Medical records of 20 cases with prenatally diagnosed PAIVS and pulmonary stenosis were ...
متن کاملEchocardiographic assessment of neonates with pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum.
In this prospective study, 27 consecutive neonates suspected to be suffering from pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum underwent detailed two-dimensional echocardiographic examination before cardiac catheterization. Of the 27 neonates 25 had pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum and the remaining 2 had "functional pulmonary atresia" secondary to severe Ebstein's anomaly of ...
متن کاملDiagnosis and surgical treatment of infants with critical pulmonary outflow obstruction. Study of thirty-four infants with pulmonary stenosis or atresia, and intact ventricular septum.
The records of 15 infants with pulmonary atresia and 19 infants with critical pulmonic stenosis and intact ventricular septum, all under 1 year of age, have been reviewed. Symptoms started earlier and were more severe in the group with pulmonary atresia. All patients showed arterial unsaturation, and many had congestive heart failure. The electrocardiogram was the most helpful tool in different...
متن کاملComparison of the offset distance of the tricuspid septal leaflet in neonates with Ebstein's anomaly and neonates with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum.
An indexed offset distance of the tricuspid septal leaflet ⩾8 mm/m2 is a quantitative criterion for the diagnosis of Ebstein's anomaly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of this criterion for the discrimination of Ebstein's anomaly from pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum in neonatal patients. A total of 122 neonatal patients, 56 with Ebstein's anomaly and 6...
