چکیده

We have performed a Discrete Fourier Transform on 136 CCD B, V and R frames of the Z Cam–type dwarf nova V1101 Aql. Our analysis indicates as possible orbital period Porb = 3 .46, though we cannot exclude the alias at 4.00. We estimate the distance to the system to be about 300 pc. We possibly discovered a bright bow–shaped nebulosity around the object.

Detection of Two-armed Spiral Shocks on the Accretion Disk of the Eclipsing Fast Nova V1494 Aquilae

We have modeled the unusual orbital light curve of V1494 Aquilae (Nova Aquilae 1999 No.2) and found that such an unusual orbital light curve can be reproduced when there exist two-armed, spiral shocks on the accretion disk. V1494 Aql is a fast classical nova and found to be an eclipsing system with the orbital period of 0.1346138 days in the late phase of the nova outburst. Its orbital light cu...

High speed photometry of faint Cataclysmic Variables : II . RS Car , V 365 Car , V 436 Car

Short time scale photometric properties of eight faint Cataclysmic Variable (CV) stars are presented. Nova Carinae 1895 (RS Car) has a photometric modulation at 1.977 h which could be either an orbital or a superhump period. Nova Carinae 1948 (V365 Car) shows flickering, but any orbital modulation has a period in excess of 6 h. The nova-like variable and X-ray source V436 Car has an orbital mod...

On the MV (peak) Versus Orbital Period Relation for Dwarf Nova Outbursts

We present computations for the accretion disk limit cycle model in an attempt to explain the empirical relation for dwarf nova outbursts between the peak visual absolute magnitude and orbital period found by Warner. For longer period systems one sees intrinsically brighter outbursts. This is accounted for in the limit cycle model by the scaling with radius of the critical surface density Σmax ...

Nova–induced Mass Transfer Variations

We investigate variations of the mass transfer rate in cataclysmic variables (CVs) that are induced by nova outbursts. The ejection of nova shells leads to a spread of transfer rates in systems with similar orbital period. The effect is maximal if the specific angular momentum in the shell is the same as the specific orbital angular momentum of the white dwarf. We show analytically that in this...

GALEX J194419.33+491257.0: An unusually active SU UMa-type dwarf nova with a very short orbital period in the Kepler data

We studied a background dwarf nova of KIC 11412044 in the Kepler public data and identified it with GALEX J194419.33+491257.0. This object turned out to be a very active SU UMa-type dwarf nova that has a mean supercycle of ∼150 d and frequent normal outbursts with intervals of 4–10 d. The object showed a strong persistent signal of the orbital variation with a period of 0.0528164(4) d (76.06 mi...
