Invariant Manifolds for Physical and Chemical Kinetics

results about them. The function field K(X) is a subfield of K(X/Y ); one of the important questions is: when are K(X) and K(X/Y ) equal, in other words, when can all formal-rational functions on X/Y be extended to X? Many of the theorems state suitable conditions on X and Y under which K(X) = K(X/Y ). The other chapters in the second part deal with selected topics from formal geometry such as Lefschetz theory, formal functions on homogeneous spaces and quasi-lines on projective varieties. The stated prerequisite is [1] or a similar text, but otherwise the book is selfcontained. It is suitable for advanced graduate students or researchers in algebraic geometry or complex geometry.

Constructive Methods of Invariant Manifolds for Kinetic Problems
We present the Constructive Methods of Invariant Manifolds for model reduction in physical and chemical kinetics, developed during last two decades. The physical problem of reduced description is studied in a most general form as a problem of constructing the slow invariant manifold. The invariance conditions are formulated as the di erential equation for a manifold immersed in the phase space ...
متن کاملComparison of Invariant Manifolds for Model Reduction in Chemical Kinetics
A modern approach to model reduction in chemical kinetics is often based on the notion of slow invariant manifold. The goal of this paper is to give a comparison of various methods of construction of slow invariant manifolds using a simple Michaelis-Menten catalytic reaction. We explore a recently introduced Method of Invariant Grids (MIG) for iteratively solving the invariance equation. Variou...
متن کاملOne-dimensional slow invariant manifolds for spatially homogenous reactive systems.
A reactive system's slow dynamic behavior is approximated well by evolution on manifolds of dimension lower than that of the full composition space. This work addresses the construction of one-dimensional slow invariant manifolds for dynamical systems arising from modeling unsteady spatially homogeneous closed reactive systems. Additionally, the relation between the systems' slow dynamics, desc...
متن کاملCalculation of Slow Invariant Manifolds for Reactive Systems
One-dimensional slow invariant manifolds for dynamical systems arising from modeling unsteady, isothermal, isochoric, spatially homogeneous, closed reactive systems are calculated. The technique is based on global analysis of the composition space of the reactive system. The identification of all the system’s finite and infinite critical points plays a major role in calculating the system’s slo...
متن کاملMethod of invariant manifold for chemical kinetics
In this paper, we review the construction of low-dimensional manifolds of reduced description for equations of chemical kinetics from the standpoint of the method of invariant manifold (MIM). MIM is based on a formulation of the condition of invariance as an equation, and its solution by Newton iterations. A review of existing alternative methods is extended by a thermodynamically consistent ve...
متن کاملInvariant grids for reaction kinetics
In this paper, we review the construction of low-dimensional manifolds of reduced description for equations of chemical kinetics from the standpoint of the method of invariant manifold (MIM). MIM is based on a formulation of the condition of invariance as an equation, and its solution by Newton iterations. A grid-based version of MIM is developed. Generalizations to open systems are suggested. ...
