چکیده
In a previous paper (3) describing experiments in which DBA/1 female mice and the transplantable dbrB adenocarcinoma indigenous to that strain were used, it was demonstrated that the inoculation of living tumor cells resulted in a sub stantial increase in resistance to subsequent tumor implants. Under certain conditions the technic em ployed rendered the animals completely refractory to secondary implants. Earlier unpublished experiments in our labora tory demonstrated that the subcutaneous inocu lation into mice of tumor tissue stored for 24 hours at 37.5° C. resulted in an increased growth of sub

Induced resistance to an indigenous transplantable mouse tumor.
Although the literature contains many refer ences to successful attempts to immunize animals against transplantable tumors, few deal with transplantable spontaneous tumors in inbred strains, and, in general, the results of these latter experiments have been negative. Aptekman and his co-workers (1-3), in a series of studies with an alcohol-soluble extract of methylcholanthrene-induced transplan...
متن کاملCombined Extract of Heated 4T1 and a Heat-Killed Preparation of Lactobacillus Casei in a Mouse Model of Breast Cancer
Background: The adjuvanticity potential of Lactobacillus casei was first suggested in an old survey. The present study was designed to investigate the efficacy of a new immunotherapy against breast cancer made by mixing an extract of heated 4T1 mammary carcinoma cell line and a heat-killed preparation of Lactobacillus casei. Methods: Female BALB/c mice (6–8 weeks old, n=40) were challenged subcu...
متن کاملAnti-Angiogenic and Anti-Proliferative Effects of Physalis Alkekengi Hydroalcholic Extract on Breast Cancer in Mice
Background & Objective: The Physalis alkekengi is a herbaceous plant belonging to Solanaceae family. According to research, this plant can help inhibit cancer cell growth. Materials & Methods: In this study, the extract of Physalis alkekengi was used to suppress angiogenesis in Balb/c mice. First, the MC4L2 cells were injected in the mice breastbone and the tumor began to grow in this area, th...
متن کاملInduction of micronuclei in a transplantable murine tumor after multimodality treatment with cis-platin, radiation and hyperthermia
Background: Tumor response after multimodality treatment using combination of radiation, chemotherapeutic drugs and hyperthermia usually assessed by parameters such as tumor growth delay, volume doubling time and regression response. The study herein was conducted to investigate the usefulness of micronucleus assay for assessing the multimodality treatment. Materials and Methods: The ...
متن کاملEFFECT OF IRON OVERLOAD ON 7, 12-DIMETHYLBENZ (A) ANTHRACENE-INDUCED SKIN TUMORIGENESIS
Iron overload is known to occur in the West European and American population due to the consumption of iron-rich diets. On the other hand, genetic disorders leading to iron overload are also known. Iron overload leads to increased peroxidation and disruptive disintegration of lipid-rich membranes, and predisposes humans for an enhanced risk of cancer induction. In experimental animals iron ...
