Perturbative Renormalization of Multi-Channel Kondo-Type Models
The poor man’s scaling is extended to higher order by the use of the open-shell Rayleigh-Schrödinger perturbation theory. A generalized Kondo-type model with the SU(n)×SU(m) symmetry is proposed and renormalized to the third order. It is shown that the model has both local Fermi-liquid and non-Fermi-liquid fixed points, and that the latter becomes unstable in the special case of n = m = 2. Poss...
متن کاملNo experimental Fermi surface measurements have been reported or made on low-temperature martensitic lithium.
Elatresh et al. (1) (ECAHDB) claim that the lowtemperature martensitic structure of lithium “is not the heretofore assigned 9R.” This is based on comparing results of Fermi surface calculations to de Haas–van Alphen (dHvA) data from Springford and coworkers (2, 3). We note that Springford’s group took extensive steps to preserve the body-centered-cubic (bcc) structure and to avoid the temperatu...
متن کاملThe Fermi surface and f-valence electron count of UPt3
Combining old and new de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) and magnetoresistance data, we arrive at a detailed picture of the Fermi surface of the heavy fermion superconductor UPt3. Our work was partially motivated by a new proposal that two 5f valence electrons per formula unit in UPt3 are localized by correlation effects agreement with previous dHvA measurements of the Fermi surface was invoked in its s...
متن کاملDetermination of the Fermi surface of MgB2 by the de Haas-van Alphen effect.
We report measurements of the de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect for single crystals of MgB2, in magnetic fields up to 32 T. In contrast to our earlier work, dHvA orbits from all four sheets of the Fermi surface were detected. Our results are in good overall agreement with calculations of the electronic structure and the electron-phonon mass enhancements of the various orbits, but there are some ...
متن کاملFermi surface reconstruction and multiple quantum phase transitions in the antiferromagnet CeRhIn5.
Conventional, thermally driven continuous phase transitions are described by universal critical behavior that is independent of the specific microscopic details of a material. However, many current studies focus on materials that exhibit quantum-driven continuous phase transitions (quantum critical points, or QCPs) at absolute zero temperature. The classification of such QCPs and the question o...
