Non-first-order features in concept languages

چکیده
In this paper we propose an epistemic concept language, where the epistemic operator is interpreted in terms of minimal knowledge. We show that the proposed formalism provides an adequate characterization of many non-rst-order aspects of frame-based knowledge representation systems, by admitting in the knowledge base various forms of epistemic sentences. In particular, we address the formalization of defaults and role closure. We argue that the minimization of knowledge captures intuitive and natural forms of reasoning that arise by restricting the attention to the individuals that are known to the knowledge base. Many of these forms of reasoning are actually provided by several knowledge representation systems, whose implementation is object centered.

Queries, Rules and Definitions as Epistemic Sentences in Concept Languages
Concept languages have been studied in order to give a formal account of the basic features of frame-based languages. The focus of research in concept languages was initially on the semantical reconstruction of frame-based systems and the computational complexity of reasoning. More recently, attention has been paid to the formalization of other aspects of frame-based languages, such as non-mono...
متن کاملExamining the Generic Features of Thesis Acknowledgments: A Case of Iranian MA Graduate Students Majoring in Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages (AZFA) and TEFL
Thesis acknowledgement is a written genre in which MA graduate students offer their gratitude to individuals, who have contributed to the completion of their study. The aim of the current study was to examine the thesis acknowledgements written by Iranian MA students in the field of Persian Language Teaching to Non-Persian Speakers (Amouzeshe Zaban e Farsi be Kharejian, AZFA) and TEFL in terms ...

This study was an attempt to investigate the comparative impact of concept map and mind map instruc- tion on EFL learners’ descriptive and narrative writing. To fulfill this purpose, 60 intermediate EFL learners were selected from among a total number of 100 through their performance on a pretest, i.e., a piloted sample Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET). متن کاملReading the first period (1627-1631) self-portraits by Rembrandt based on the concept of Das Ding in Lacan Theory
Rembrandt, in his early self-portraits, clearly forbids the audience from seeing. The distinguishing feature of these works not in the clearly displayed sections, but in the glorious representation of the lost information. In other words, Rembrandt uses visual principles and qualities in order not to represent himself accurately. This prompted the researcher to read psychoanalytically the self...
متن کاملDefault Rules in Functional Logic Programs ⋆
In functional logic programs, rules are applicable independently of textual order, i.e., any rule can potentially be used to evaluate an expression. This is similar to logic languages and opposite to functional languages, e.g., Haskell enforces a strict sequential interpretation of rules. However, in some situations it is convenient to express alternatives by means of compact default rules. Alt...
