چکیده

An anomalous right subclavian artery arising from the left side of the aortic arch distal to the left subclavian artery was first described by Hunauld (1735). In most cases the artery passes behind the oesophagus to reach the right side of the neck. The defect is usually attributed to a failure of development of the fourth right aortic arch, the caudal part of the right dorsal aorta persisting, sometimes with dilatation, to form the proximal part of the abnormal right subclavian artery. There are numerous accounts of this anomaly and they have been reviewed by Cairney (1925). Symptoms are unusual but in a small proportion of cases dysphagia is complained of. Bayford (1789) termed the difficulty in swallowing dysphagia lusoria.

Dilated aberrant right subclavian artery (arteria lusoria), as a rare cause of dysphagia in a patient with abdominal aortic aneurysm.

A rare case of a 70 years old man with dysphagia secondary to compression of the oesophagus by dilated aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA, Arteria lusoria) is presented. Contrast enhanced computed tomography of the mediastinum in our patient revealed this anomalous vessel arising from the aortic arch distal to the left subclavian artery which passed behind the esophagus as it traveled to th...

Aneurysm of the aberrant right subclavian artery – a case report

BACKGROUND The right subclavian artery, originating not from the brachiocephalic trunk but directly from the aortic arch, is a rare anatomical abnormality. 'Arteria lusoria' is the accepted name of the retroesophageal right subclavian artery. Such a vessel location, between the vertebral column and the esophagus, determines its course to the right. This defect may be asymptomatic, found during ...

Surgical treatment of an aneurysm of the aberrant right subclavian artery involving an aortic arch aneurysm and coronary artery disease.

A 55-year-old man presented with clinical signs of an aortic arch aneurysm. Angiography, MRI and CT demonstrated an aortic arch aneurysm and an aneurysm of the aberrant right subclavian artery. Coronary angiography revealed 95% stenosis in the right coronary artery. Right common carotid artery-right subclavian artery bypass, arch graft replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting were perfor...

Embolisation of a bronchial artery of anomalous origin in massive haemoptysis.

Massive haemoptysis is the most dreaded of all respiratory emergencies. Bronchial artery embolisation is known to be a safe and effective procedure in massive haemoptysis. Bronchial artery of anomalous origin presents a diagnostic challenge to interventional radiologists searching for the source of haemorrhage. Here, we report a case of massive haemoptysis secondary to a lung carcinoma with the...

Endovascular treatment of an aberrant right subclavian artery aneurysm with use of the Zenith iliac plug.

Aberrant right subclavian artery aneurysms are rare but demonstrate a propensity toward rupture; thus, early elective repair is mandated. Novel endovascular modalities are available to offer less-invasive treatment for a patient population with increasing comorbidities. We report a case of a 65-year-old woman with an aberrant right subclavian artery aneurysm causing dysphagia lusoria. The aneur...
