چکیده

M A N Y papers have been published on differential radiosensitivity due to polyploidy (see summary by SWAMINATHAN 1957) and sex (GLASS 1940; KAWAHARA 195 7). However, no systematic method of relating radiosensitivity to specific chromosome number has been devised. Aneuploid series, such as have been completed in Datura, Oenothera, maize, tomato, tobacco or wheat, facilitate studies relating change in radiosensitivity to the addition or removal of a specific chromosome. Differences in radiosensitivities between the aneuploids and disomics must be, directly and/or indirectly, attributed to the chromosome that varies in dosage in those strains. The experiment reported here was designed to study the effects that removing a specific chromosome had on the radiosensitivity of the wheat plant subjected to a wide range of X-ray dosages. Such a study should reveal comparative radiosensitivities for specific chromosomes.

Analysis of nuclear DNA content in monosomic maize plants

Five maize monosomics were analyzed for their nuclear DNA content. Several hundred seeds of R/r-X1 X mutants were grown for two weeks and monosomics with missing chromosomes were identified based on their mutant phenotypic characteristics. Nuclei were isolated from both normal and monosomic two-week old seedlings, and stained with 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) and propidium iodide (PI) fl...

Cytogenetic Characteristics of New Monosomic Stocks of Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

The use of aneuploid lines significantly increases the effectiveness of molecular-genetic analysis and the development of superior quality breeding lines via substitutions by alien chromosomes. To date, however, a complete set of aneuploid series for each cotton chromosome is not available. Here, we present the development of a monosomic stock collection of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) from U...

A Chebyshev functions method for solving linear and nonlinear fractional differential equations based on Hilfer fractional derivative

The theory of derivatives and integrals of fractional in fractional calculus have found enormousapplications in mathematics, physics and engineering so for that reason we need an efficient and accurate computational method for the solution of fractional differential equations. This paper presents a numerical method for solving a class of linear and nonlinear multi-order fractional differential ...

Distribution of Nonstructural Variation along Three Chromosome Arms between Wheat Cultivars Chinese Spring and Cheyenne.

Metaphase I (MI) pairing of wheat homologous chromosomes is usually reduced in hybrids between cultivars relative to the parental inbred lines. Previous work suggested that this phenomenon is caused by polymorphism in nucleotide sequences (nonstructural chromosome variation) among wheat cultivars. The present work investigated the distribution of this variation along three selected chromosome a...

Isolation of monosomics in yeast.

Tetraploid cultures of Saccharomyces cerevisiae triplex (A/A/A/a) at several loci were sporulated. All the diploid spores are expected to be homozygous (A/A) or heterozygous (A/a) and, hence, to have the dominant phenotype. Cells lacking one of the chromosomes (monosomics) may show the recessive phenotype (a/-). Therefore, spores that grew on complete medium but failed to grow on the relevant s...
