Transposition of the aorta and pulmonary artery demonstrated by angiocardiography.

چکیده
Complete transposition of the great vessels is one of the less common congenital anomalies. Survival after birth is dependent upon the presence of some communication between the right and left sides of the heart that will permit crossing of the greater and lesser circulations and enable venous blood to reach the lungs. The case described below is of particular interest because of the absence of diagnostic criteria afforded by the usual methods of clinical and radiological examination.

Electrocardiographic-gated multislice computed tomography for visualization of cardiac morphology in congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries.
A case of congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries in a 64-old-woman is presented. Diagnosis was missed by invasive angiocardiography. Electrocardiographic-gated multislice computed tomography not only demonstrated switching of the aortic root and pulmonary trunk but clearly identified fine morphologic details of the cardiac chambers, including the atypical coronary artery pat...
متن کاملEchocardiographic identification of aorta and main pulmonary artery in complete transposition.
No completely reliable echocardiographic technique has been described for the separate identification of the aorta and main pulmonary artery in complete transposition of the great arteries. A mechanical wide-angle (60 degrees) sector scanner has been applied to this problem in 17 infants and young children, including 8 newborns before angiocardiography. In all patients a longitudinal scan (sagg...
متن کاملThe Surgery of Transposition of the Great Vessels.
In transposition of the great vessels the aorta gets its blood from the right side of the heart into which the caval veins enter, and the pulmonary artery arises from the left side of the heart, getting its blood from the lungs. The normal crossed circulation has changed into two parallel circulations, and the patient can live only if there are shunts between the two circulations. The interior ...
متن کاملDouble outlet right ventricle with 1-malposition of the aorta.
Four patients are described with a recently recognized variant of double outlet right ventricle. Clinical examination favoured tetralogy of Fallot, but the chest X-ray suggested corrected transposition. Catheterization and angiocardiography showed that the aorta was to the left of the main pulmonary artery, and both arose from a normally positioned morphological right ventricle. Egress of blood...
متن کاملAnomalies of the aorta and pulmonary arteries complicating ventricular septal defect.
Ventricular septal defect is not always a simple lesion, but may be associated with other congenital cardiac disorders. The object of this paper is to present anomalies of the great vessels that have been found on angiocardiography or at operation in a series of patients with a ventricular septal defect investigated and treated at Hammersmith Hospital. During the last three years selective angi...
