Study of Ulcer Protective Effect of Ipomea batatas (L.) Dietary Tuberous Roots (Sweet Potato)
Peptic ulcer is one of the most prevalent gastrointestinal disorder, commonly occurs in developed countries. The present work was carried out to evaluate antiulcer effect of Ipomoea batatas (L) dietary tuberous roots. The Ethanolic extract of Ipomoea batatas (EEIB) was prepared by dynamic maceration for 7 days at room temperature using 70% ethanol (V/V). The antiulcer activity was evaluated...
متن کاملDietary factors and the risk of gastric cancer in Mexico City.
Dietary factors play an important role in gastric cancer risk but have not been investigated extensively in Mexico. The authors conducted a population-based case-control study of gastric cancer in the Mexico City, Mexico, metropolitan area in 1989-1990. A total of 220 patients with histologically confirmed gastric adenocarcinomas were interviewed. Controls were an age-stratified random sample o...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori Infection and Dietary Factors Act Synergistically to Promote Gastric Cancer.
However, the incidence of gastric cancer (GC) has been decreased in past decades; GC is the second cause of cancer related death in the world. Evidence has illustrated that several factors including Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, host genetics, and environmental factors (smoking and particularly diet) may play a crucial role in gastric carcinogenesis. It has been demonstrated that h...
متن کاملIntestinal metaplasia with a high salt diet induces epithelial proliferation and alters cell composition in the gastric mucosa of mice.
Intestinal metaplasia of the gastric mucosa is an important component in the pathway to adenocarcinoma. The mechanisms that induce the progression from intestinal metaplasia to cancer have not been elucidated. High dietary salt has been known as one of the risk factors for gastric cancer development in humans. Therefore, we investigated the role of high salt diet on gastric epithelial cell prol...
