Insulin-binding antibodies in relation to insulin therapy.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods for detecting insulin binding or transporting antibodies are described, involving the use of radioactively labelled insulin (insulin (131)I). These antibodies are detected in a high proportion of patients receiving insulin, particularly those requiring large doses. The protein fractions concerned appear to be the beta and gamma globulins. The significance of the phenomenon is discussed.

Investigation on the Levels of IGF-I Receptor and IGF-I Binding Protein I in the Brain of Insulin Resistant Rats
Abstract Introduction: There is limited knowledge available on the metabolism of glucose in the brain, an insulin insensitive organ. Insulin receptors hybridize with insulin like growth factor receptor (IGF-I) to transduce the signals in different areas of the brain. In this article we aimed at investigating whether the expression of IGF-I receptor and IGF-I binding proteins (IGFBP1) is change...
متن کاملIn silico prediction of B cell epitopes of the extracellular domain of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor
The insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) is a transmembrane receptor with tyrosine kinase activity. The receptor plays a critical role in cancer. Using monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against the IGF-1R, typically blocks ligand binding and enhances down-regulation of the cell-surface IGF-1R. Some MAbs such as cixutumumab are under clinical trial investigation. Targeting multiple distinct...
متن کاملاثر متفورمین در کنترل قند خون بیماران دیابتی نوع دوم تحت درمان با انسولین
Background: Patients with type 2 diabetes are often obese and require large dose of insulin to achieve glycemic control. Insulin therapy often cause weight gain and results in increasing insulin requirements. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of metformin in combination with insulin in patients with type 2 diabetes poorly controlled with insulin therapy alone. Materials and Meth...
متن کاملBinding Data Analysis for Interaction of n- Alkyl Sulfates with Insulin
The binding data for interaction of a homologous series of n-alkyl sulfates with alkyl chainlengths from C8 to C12 with insulin were analyzed on basis of Hill equation for two classes ofbinding sites .The intrinsic Gibbs free energies were calculated and resolute on basis ofelectrostatic and hydrophobic contributions The estimation of these contributions reveals themajor role of electrostatic i...
متن کاملImmunological insulin resistance due to insulin antibodies developed after cessation of insulin therapy in a patient with type 2 diabetes.
W hile insulin antibodies reportedly exist in about half of patients with type 2 diabetes who inject insulin, these antibodies do not often severely affect blood glucose levels (1). Here, we report a patient who had insulin antibodies against human insulin and developed insulin resistance after episodes of frequent hypoglycemic attacks, even though insulin therapy had been discontinued. A 68-ye...
