Development of a vaccine delivery system using hepatitis B core antigen based VLPs to deliver mycobacterial antigens

چکیده
Background Growing prevalence of TB and the emergence of XDRTB have stimulated substantial efforts to develop better vaccines for TB. Recent researches have shown that some of the antigenic proteins and fusion of different proteins produced by Mycobacterium tuberculosis can give protection in animal models when administrated with specific adjuvants. In the present study, we explored the use HBcag-VLPs for delivery of tuberculosis antigens.

Liposome and polymer-based nanomaterials for vaccine applications
Nanoparticles (NPs) are effective and safe adjuvants for antigen delivery in modern vaccinology. Biodegradable nanomaterials with suitable properties are frequently applied for conjugation or loading with antigens; they protect the antigens from degradation in vivo. NPs are applied as effective delivery system to facilitate antigen uptake by antigen presenting cells (APCs) and especially dendri...
متن کاملVaccine delivery system for tuberculosis based on nano-sized hepatitis B virus core protein particles
Nano-sized hepatitis B virus core virus-like particles (HBc-VLP) are suitable for uptake by antigen-presenting cells. Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigen culture filtrate protein 10 (CFP-10) is an important vaccine candidate against tuberculosis. The purified antigen shows low immune response without adjuvant and tends to have low protective efficacy. The present study is based on the assumption...
متن کاملTruncated Core/NS3 Fusion Protein of HCV Adjuvanted with Outer Membrane Vesicles of Neisseria meningitidis Serogroup B: Potent Inducer of the Murine Immune System
Background: A licensed vaccine against hepatitis C virus (HCV) has not become available to date. The stability and antigenicity of a targeted synthesized recombinant fusion protein consisting of a truncated core and NS3 (rC/N) of HCV had been predicted. Although safe antigens, recombinant proteins are not efficacious vaccines without adjuvants. The present study evaluated the immunogenicity of ...

Virus-like particles (VLPs) can be used as powerful nanoscale weapons to fight against virus infection. In addition to direct use as vaccines, VLPs have been extensively exploited as platforms on which to display foreign antigens for prophylactic vaccination and immunotherapeutic treatment. Unfortunately, fabrication of new chimeric VLP vaccines in a versatile, site-specific and highly efficien...

Introduction: Vaccinology provides promising approaches for the control of various infectious diseases. Among different strategies, DNA vaccines offer attractive research opportunities for development of vaccines for induction of antigen-specific immunity owing to their stability, simplicity of delivery, safety and cost effectiveness. However, there is a need to increase their potency by the ...
