Ideal-gas DPD fluid Tunable-slip wall Effective Slippage on Superhydrophobic Trapezoidal Grooves

چکیده
The design and fabrication of textured surfaces has received much attention during the past decade. In case of a hydrophobic texture a modified surface profile can lead to a very large contact angle, which induces exceptional wetting properties. A remarkable mobility of liquids on such SH surfaces is observed in the Cassie state, where the textures are filled with gas, which renders them “self-cleaning” and causes droplets to roll (rather than slide) under gravity and rebound (rather than spread) upon impact. Furthermore, SH heterogeneous surfaces in the Cassie state exhibit very low friction, and this drag reduction is associated with the large slippage of liquids.

Tailoring the hydrodynamic boundary condition is essential for both applied and fundamental aspects of drag reduction. Hydrodynamic friction on superhydrophobic substrates providing gas-liquid interfaces can potentially be optimized by controlling the interface geometry. Therefore, establishing stable and optimal interfaces is crucial but rather challenging. Here we present unique superhydropho...
متن کاملEffective slip over superhydrophobic surfaces in thin channels.
Superhydrophobic surfaces reduce drag by combining hydrophobicity and roughness to trap gas bubbles in a microscopic texture. Recent work has focused on specific cases, such as arrays of pillars or grooves, with limited theoretical guidance. Here, we consider the experimentally relevant limit of thin channels and obtain rigorous bounds on the effective slip length for any two-component (e.g., l...

Bubbles can be trapped inside textured structures such as grooves, forming a superhydrophobic surface. A superhydrophobic surface has a large effective hydrodynamic slip length compared to a smooth hydrophobic surface and holds the promise of enhancing electrokinetic flows that find many interesting applications in microfluidics. However, recent theoretical studies suggested that electro-osmoti...

We present in this Letter an experimental characterization of liquid flow slippage over superhydrophobic surfaces made of carbon nanotube forests, incorporated in microchannels. We make use of a particle image velocimetry technique to achieve the submicrometric resolution on the flow profile necessary for accurate measurement of the surface hydrodynamic properties. We demonstrate boundary slipp...
متن کاملFlow inside Micro-Channel Bounded by Superhydrophobic Surface with Eccentric Micro-Grooves
The superhydrophobic surface is widely used to reduce friction for the flow inside micro-channel and can be used to control/manipulate fluid, cells and even proteins in lab-on-chip. Fabricating micro grooves on hydrophobic surfaces is a common method to obtain such superhydrophobic surface. This study utilized the numerical method to investigate the effect of eccentric micro-grooves on the fric...
