An In Vitro Comparison of Three Posterior Dynamic Motion-Sparing Lumbar Stabilization Devices

چکیده

Introduction Preclinical data is required to select among various posterior dynamic stabilization devices on the market today. Unfortunately, very little is available. The purpose of this biomechanical study was to compare the kinematics, foraminal areas, and disc heights in cadaveric lumbar spines treated with three types of posterior dynamic stabilization devices: PercuDyn (Interventional Spine, Inc.), X-Stop (St. Francis Medical Technologies), and Isobar (Scientix).

Biomechanical Evaluation of Pedicle Screw-Based Dynamic Stabilization Devices for the Lumbar Spine: A Systematic Review

STUDY DESIGN This study is a systematic review of published biomechanical studies involving pedicle screw-based posterior dynamic stabilization devices (PDS) with a special focus on kinematics and load transmission through the functional spine unit (FSU). METHODS A literature search was performed via the PubMed online database from 1990 to 2008 using the following key words: "biomechanics," "...

Letter to the editor: Novel indication for posterior dynamic stabilization: correction of disc tilt after lumbar total disc replacement

Cheng et al 1 have discussed using a dynamic posterior stabilization device to treat asymmetric collapse of an artificial disc in the coronal plane. Although this may correct the radiographic coronal-plane abnormality, there are significant biomechanical considerations to be kept in mind. When using these 2 devices in conjunction with each other at the same motion segment, the degrees of freedo...

Pedicle Screw-Based Posterior Dynamic Stabilization: Literature Review

Posterior dynamic stabilization (PDS) indicates motion preservation devices that are aimed for surgical treatment of activity related mechanical low back pain. A large number of such devices have been introduced during the last 2 decades, without biomechanical design rationale, or clinical evidence of efficacy to address back pain. Implant failure is the commonest complication, which has result...

Biomechanical comparison of an interspinous device and a rigid stabilization on lumbar adjacent segment range of motion.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Decompression surgery with or without fusion is the gold standard treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis, but adjacent segment degeneration has been reported as a long-term complication after fusion. This led to the development of dynamic implants like the interspinous devices. They are supposed to limit extension and expand the spinal canal at the symptomatic level, but with ...

Posterior dynamic stabilization for the treatment of patients with lumbar degenerative disc disease: long-term clinical and radiological results.

AIM Comparison of long-term preoperative and postoperative clinical and radiological results for patients diagnosed with degenerative disc disease that underwent posterior dynamic stabilization. Lumbar disc degeneration is caused by a variety of factors. Disruptions in the vertebral endplate result in defects in disc nutrition and, thus, disc degeneration. The aims of dynamic stabilization are ...
