چکیده

A human can lift up an object with almost minimal grasping force regardless of the fiction coefficient between the fingers and the object, but the sensing mechanism for this remarkable task has not been well explicated yet. In this paper we propose a tactile sensor to detect a fiction coefficient at the moment of touch. With this sensor output we evaluate the largest lifting-force just before a slip happens, without any preliminary motions. The sensor has a sensing cell in the elastic body, which measures straidstress components parallel and vertical to the suface. Those plural stress/strain parameters at a point gives the fiction coefficient. A prototype sensor is fabricated with acoustic resonant tensor cell, and we examine that principle in experiments.

A Novel Tactile Sensor with Electromagnetic Induction and Its Application on Stick-Slip Interaction Detection

Real-time detection of contact states, such as stick-slip interaction between a robot and an object on its end effector, is crucial for the robot to grasp and manipulate the object steadily. This paper presents a novel tactile sensor based on electromagnetic induction and its application on stick-slip interaction. An equivalent cantilever-beam model of the tactile sensor was built and capable o...

Design and Construction of a Novel Tactile Sensor for Measuring Contact-Force, Based on Piezoelectric Effect

In this paper, design and construction of a tactile sensor for measuring contact-force is presented. Mechanism of measuring contact-force in this tactile sensor is based on impedance changing of piezoelectric crystal and voltage of different points in circuit as a result of applying force on the crystal. By considering a specific point in the circuit and recording the changes of its voltage, ma...

Strain dependence of ultrasound speed in bovine articular cartilage under compression in vitro.

The change of the ultrasound (US) speed in articular cartilage (artC) under applied strain conditions may induce significant measurement errors of the mechanical properties of the artC during both indentation and compression tests using US. In this paper, the strain dependence of the US speed in bovine artC (n = 20) under compression in vitro was investigated by virtue of using a custom-made US...
