چکیده

Monitoring of the atmospheric conditions is very important for fluorescence observations. Particularly, the presence of clouds can drastically distort the signal from the extensive air shower. Infra-red (IR) sensors, measuring sky temperature, can help to distinguish clouds, which are usually significantly warmer than clear skies. Array of such sensors, covering the detector’s field of view, was installed, and have been collecting data every minute of detector operation. Using this information, a cloud database was created. This database is used to select cloud free CR events. In this paper we present the description of the array and the method used to analyze IR data.

30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE Search for Intermediate-Scale Anisotropy by the HiRes Experiment

The HiRes collaboration has searched for intermediate-scale anisotropy of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays in two ways: first a search for variation with declination of the flux of cosmic rays, and second in their arrival directions. The data of the HiRes-II detector was used in the search.

30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE A Measurement of the Average Longitudinal Development Profile of Cosmic Ray Air Showers from 10eV to 10eV by HiRes-II

A method to calculate the Average Longitudinal Shower profile has been applied to the High Resolution Fly’s Eye Detector (HiRes) data. A complete detector simulation was used to throw CORSIKA (QGSJET) showers which are then analyzed using the same technique. The main features of the average showers are compared to the Monte Carlo as a function of energy. Systematic errors in the reconstruction ...

30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE HiRes Limits on the Tau Neutrino Flux at the Highest Energies

Data from the High Resolution Fly’s Eye detector that measures cosmic rays with the fluorescence technique is used to set limits on the flux of tau neutrinos in the energy range from 10 to 10 eV. This energy range is particularly interesting as we expect a guaranteed flux of cosmogenic neutrinos from the GZK mechanism.

30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE An Alternative Method to Finding Patterns in HiRes Stereo Data

In this paper, Ultra High Energy Cosmic Ray (UHECR) data observed by the HiRes fluorescence detector in stereo mode is analyzed to search for events in the sky with an arrival direction lying on a great circle. Such a structure is known as an arc structure. An arc structure is expected when the charged cosmic rays pass through the galactic magnetic field. The arcs searched for could represent a...

30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE Stereo Reconstruction at HiRes

We describe a technique used to reconstruct the energy and Xmax of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) observed by the HiRes detector in stereoscopic mode. This technique calculates the relationship between the number of shower particles at a depth of the shower to the signal in either angular or time bins. This relationship is calculated for a given shower segment location. The estimated num...
