چکیده

There is a spectrum of cardiac malformations known as “ Cono Truncal Anomalies “ which refl ect an abnormal transfer during development of the aorta from the right to the left ventricle. R H Anderson proposed a system of nomenclature and classifi cation of Congenital Heart Disease totally descriptive with sequential-segmental analysis according to the sequential approach of R.Van Praagh [1-2]. There is a wide variation of Infundibular Morphology and Arterial Relationships which occur with any type of Ventriculoarterial Connection: these conditions should neither be named nor defi ned in terms of arterial relationships and infundibular morphology. The segmental connections are the hallmark of the Abnorma ventriculoarterial Athos Capuani et coll. Chirurgie Cardiaque

The trabecula septomarginalis (Leonardo’s cord) in abnormal ventriculo-arterial connections: anatomic and morphogenetic implications

BACKGROUND The abnormal ventriculo-arterial connections in atrio-ventricular concordance and situs solitus with two well developed ventricles include the range from tetralogy of Fallot throughout the different forms of double outlet right ventricle to transposition of great arteries. The infundibular septum and the trabecula septomarginalis are the fundamental anatomical landmarks for the segmen...

Mustard's operation for patients with ventriculoarterial concordance. Report of two cases and a cautionary tale.

Three patients with ventriculoarterial concordance and an abnormal atrioventricular connexion were investigated. One patient had total anomalous pulmonary venous connexion to a left vertical vein. In 1972 this was repaired and a ventricular septal defect was closed, but the presence of atrioventricular discordance was missed and the patient died. In the other two patients, Mustard's operation r...

Dextrocardia--value of segmental analysis in its categorisation.

Dextrocardia can be defined as a heart in the right chest with the major axis to the right. This definition, however, conveys no information regarding the chamber arrangements and internal anatomy of the heart. Of 40 patients satisfying this definition in the files of the Brompton Hospital, 33 had angiocardiographic data adequate for complete analysis in terms of connections, relations, and mor...

Atresia of left atrioventricular orifice. Anatomical investigation in 62 cases.

Sixty-two hearts without a patent exit from the left atrium to the ventricular mass have been studied. All had situs solitus and laevocardia. The material consisted of 32 cases with coexistent aortic atresia and 30 cases with patent aortic root. Five hearts with aortic atresia were biventricular with atrioventricular concordance and imperforate left atrioventricular valves, and 27 hearts were u...

Sequential chamber localization--logical approach to diagnosis in congenital heart disease.

A nomenclature is described for congenital heart disease employing sequential chamber localization. It is an eclectic system based in part upon the previous classifications of Van Praagh and Kirklin. It links together the atrial, ventricular, and arterial segments of the heart and then permits tabulation of associated anomalies. The atrial segment of the heart can exist as situs solitus, situs ...
