Title Effects of excitation spread on the intelligibility of mandarin speech in cochlear implant simulations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Noisy listening conditions remain challenging for most cochlear implant patients. The present study simulated the effects of decay rates of excitation spread in cochlear implants on the intelligibility of Mandarin speech in noise. Mandarin sentence and tone stimuli were processed by noise-vocoder, and presented to normal-hearing listeners for identification. The decay rates of excitation spread were simulated by varying the slopes of synthesis filters in noisevocoder. Experimental results showed that significant benefit for Mandarin sentence recognition in noise was observed with narrower type of excitation. The performance of Mandarin tone identification was relatively robust to the influence of excitation spread. The results in the present study suggest that reducing the decay rates of excitation spread may potentially improve the speech perception in noise for cochlear implants in the future. Relationship between Working Memory, Auditory Perception and Speech Intelligibility in Cochlear Implanted Children of Elementary School
Objectives: This study examined the relationship between working and short-term memory performance, and their effects on cochlear implant outcomes (speech perception and speech production) in cochlear implanted children aged 7-13 years. The study also compared the memory performance of cochlear implanted children with their normal hearing peers. Methods: Thirty-one cochlear impl...

متن کاملSimulations of High-Frequency Vocoder on Mandarin Speech Recognition for Acoustic Hearing Preserved Cochlear Implant
Vocoder simulations are generally adopted to simulate the electrical hearing induced by the cochlear implant (CI). Our research group is developing a new four-electrode CI microsystem which induces high-frequency electrical hearing while preserving low-frequency acoustic hearing. To simulate the functionality of this CI, a previously developed hearing-impaired (HI) hearing model is combined wit...
متن کاملParental Attitude toward the Consequences of Cochlear Implantation in Children referred to the Besat cochlear implant center in Hamadan, 2019.
Introduction: Cochlear implantation is a cure for hearing impaired or deaf children who can't use hearing aids. Parental attitude to post-cochlear implications can be effective in the process of child rehabilitation. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the parents' attitude towards the consequences of cochlear implantation in children referred to the Besat cochlear implant cente...
