AC - driven AMR and GMR magnetoresistors

چکیده
Anisotropic (AMR) and Giant (GMR) Magnetoresistive sensors are attractive for industrial applications, as they are more sensitive and stable than Hall sensors. Their performance can be improved by AC excitation: flipping for AMR and AC biasing for GMR. AC excitation lowers the hysteresis, reduces the offset and in some cases also decreases sensor noise. The sensitivity to perpendicular fields is reduced in case of AMR sensors. AC-driven magnetoresistors are competitive with miniature fluxgate sensors and they are suitable for precise applications such as compasses.

Spatial detection of ferromagnetic wires using GMR sensor and based on shape induced anisotropy
The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new technique for row spacing measurement in a wire array using giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor. The self-rectifying property of the GMR-based probes leads to accurately detection of the magnetic field fluctuations caused by surface-breaking cracks in conductive materials, shape-induced magnetic anisotropy, etc. The ability to manufacture probes h...

Growth, Characterization, and Properties of Co/Re Superlattices Timothy R. Charlton All conducting materials have a magnetoresistive response (MR). In bulk ferromagnets the MR is due to the anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR). AMR results from the spin-orbit interaction and s-d electron scattering. The change in resistance due to AMR is only a few percent. In contrast, the giant magnetoresistan...
متن کاملInfluence of the interfaces on the anisotropic magnetoresistance of Ni/Co multilayers
All materials exhibit magnetoresistance ~MR!, that is, a change in resistance when a magnetic field is applied. This property is stronger in magnetic than in nonmagnetic materials. Magnetoresistance is a phenomenon of great interest due to its technological applications. Among the different types of MR observed in magnetic materials, the following three should be remarked: anisotropic magnetore...
متن کاملDuality that Relates Magnetic Noise to Electric Shot Noise
Statistical treatment of the succession in time of the Barkhausen-noise pulses shows that magnetic noise possesses characteristics that are similar to those of electric shot noise. On the other hand, the electric shotnoise intensity in a noisy component is known to be related directly to the square root of the dc current through the component. Hence, it is intriguing to relate in the same manne...
متن کاملFractional Modeling of the AC Large-Signal Frequency Response in Magnetoresistive Current Sensors
Fractional calculus is considered when derivatives and integrals of non-integer order are applied over a specific function. In the electrical and electronic domain, the transfer function dependence of a fractional filter not only by the filter order n, but additionally, of the fractional order α is an example of a great number of systems where its input-output behavior could be more exactly mod...
