Hyperqueries: Dynamic Distributed Query Processing on the Internet

چکیده
In this paper we propose both a reference architecture for building scalable and dynamic virtual market places and a new framework for dynamic query processing based on so-called HyperQueries which are essentially query evaluation sub-plans “sitting behind” hyperlinks. Architecting an electronic market place as a data warehouse by integrating all the data from all participating enterprises in one centralized repository incurs severe problems. Using HyperQueries, application integration is achieved via dynamic distributed query evaluation plans. The electronic market place serves as an intermediary between clients and providers executing their sub-queries referenced via hyperlinks. The hyperlinks are embedded as attribute values within data objects of the intermediary’s database. Retrieving such a virtual object will automatically initiate the execution of the referenced HyperQuery in order to materialize the entire object. All administrative tasks in such a B2B market place can be modeled as e-services and executed by the participants’ local administrators. Thus, sensitive data remains under the full control of the data providers.

Building Dynamic Market Places Using HyperQueries
Electronic market places and virtual enterprises have become important applications for query processing [2]. Building a scalable virtual B2B market place with hundreds or thousands participants requires highly flexible, distributed query processing capabilities. Architecting an electronic market place as a data warehouse by integrating all the data from all participating enterprises in one cen...

There has been an exponential growth in the availability of data on the web and in the usage of systems and tools for querying and retrieving web data. Despite the considerable advances in search engines and other internet technologies for dynamically combining, integrating and collating web data, supporting a DBMS-like data management approach across multiple web data sources is still an elusi...
متن کاملMultiple query scheduling for distributed semantic caches
In distributed query processing systems, load balancing plays an important role in maximizing system throughput. When queries can leverage cached intermediate results, improving the cache hit ratio becomes as important as load balancing in query scheduling, especially when dealing with computationally expensive queries. The scheduling policies must be designed to take into consideration the dyn...

Several design and technical challenges arising in querying the distributed relational data as the ad-hoc network connected a host of relational databases. In this paper, we propose a relational data query scheme and the in-network query processing algorithms for dealing with the distributed relational data querying on the Named Data Networking (NDN), since the content can be retrieved by their...

Today, there is a vast discrepancy between data publication and data processing capabilities on the Internet. Virtually anybody can publish data, e.g., in HTMLor XML-format. Consequently, a wide range of (different quality) data sources exist on the Internet, ranging from personal documents to real estate offers to product catalogs, to name just a few. In a way, the Internet could be viewed as ...
