چکیده
Magnaporthe grisea is an ascomycete that is the causal agent of rice blast disease. The disease is one of the most destructive diseases of rice for the significant loss of the crop. The major strategies for defense against the disease are drugs and resistant cultivars, However, the fungus has been known to be highly variable with respects to drug resistance and host cultivar specificity, and those features have made it hard to control the disease permanently.i} In order to establish a novel disease defense system, it is necessary to clarify the process of the mutations that introduce the variability. Until now, molecular cloning of genes for the host or cultivar specificity,2'4) the construction of genetic maps,5) DNA fingerprinting using repetitive DNA probes,`・') identifications f transposable elements,S"3] and electrophoretic karyotyping6'i4'iS) have thrown a light on

Isolation, identification, and optimal cultivation of a marine bacterium antagonistic to Magnaporthe grisea.
In this paper, a plate confrontation method was used to isolate bacteria antagonistic to the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe grisea from samples collected from China's Dalian Bay. The antagonist strain LM-031 was obtained. We studied this strain's morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics and analyzed its 16S rDNA sequence. We compared the effects of different culture condition...
متن کاملCharacterization and Phylogenetic Analysis of Magnaporthe spp. strains on Various Hosts in Iran
Background: Populations of Magnaporthe, the causal agent of rice blast disease, are pathotypically and genetically diverse and therefore their interaction with different rice cultivars and also antagonistic microorganisms are very complicated. Objectives: The objectives of the present study were to characterize phylogenetic relationships of 114 native Magnaporthe strains, isolated from rice a...

1 CBS1 from Magnaporthe grisea is a structural and functional homolog of the 2 cystathionine beta synthase (CBS) gene from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Our studies 3 indicated that M. grisea can utilize homocysteine and methionine through a CBS4 independent pathway. Results also revealed responses of M. grisea to homocysteine that 5 are reminiscent of human homocystinuria. 6

Species of Pyricularia (magnaporthe-like sexual morphs) are responsible for major diseases on grasses. Pyricularia oryzae (sexual morph Magnaporthe oryzae) is responsible for the major disease of rice called rice blast disease, and foliar diseases of wheat and millet, while Pyricularia grisea (sexual morph Magnaporthe grisea) is responsible for foliar diseases of Digitaria. Magnaporthe salvinii...
