Modified Rayleigh conjecture and applications

چکیده
Modified Rayleigh conjecture (MRC) in scattering theory is proposed and justified. MRC allows one to develop numerical algorithms for solving direct scattering problems related to acoustic wave scattering by soft and hard obstacles of arbitrary shapes. It gives an error estimate for solving the direct scattering problem. It suggests a numerical method for finding the shape of a star-shaped obstacle from the scattering data. Modified Rayleigh Conjecture Method with optimally placed sources
The Rayleigh conjecture on the representation of the scattered field in the exterior of an obstacle D is widely used in applications. However this conjecture is false for some obstacles. AGR introduced the Modified Rayleigh Conjecture (MRC). In this paper we present a version of the MRC based on an optimal choice of sources. The method is implemented and tested for various 2D and 3D obstacles i...

متن کاملModified Rayleigh Conjecture Method and Its Applications
The Rayleigh conjecture about convergence up to the boundary of the series representing the scattered field in the exterior of an obstacle D is widely used by engineers in applications. However this conjecture is false for some obstacles. AGR introduced the Modified Rayleigh Conjecture (MRC), which is an exact mathematical result. In this paper we review the theoretical basis for the MRC method...
متن کاملModified Rayleigh Conjecture for static problems
Modified Rayleigh conjecture (MRC) in scattering theory was proposed and justified by the author (J.Phys A, 35 (2002), L357-L361). MRC allows one to develop efficient numerical algorithms for solving boundary-value problems. It gives an error estimate for solutions. In this paper the MRC is formulated and proved for static problems.
متن کاملNumerical Method for Solving Obstacle Scattering Problems by an Algorithm Based on the Modified Rayleigh Conjecture
A numerical algorithm for solving obstacle scattering problems is presented. This algorithm is based on the Modified Rayleigh Conjecture (MRC) method introduced by A. G. Ramm. Its numerical implementation shows that the method is efficient, can handle nonsmooth 3D obstacles and obstacles with complicated shapes. Numerical examples are given.
