Thermodynamic analysis of hydrogen production via sorption-enhanced chemical-looping reforming

چکیده
Abstract: Hydrogen production via Sorption-Enhanced Chemical-Looping reforming combines hydrocarbons reforming (in this case methane reforming), by chemical-looping auto-thermal reforming, with water-gas shift and carbonation reactions. Both H2 production rate and concentration depend on the chemical equilibrium that is established in the fuel reactor and that is influenced by several parameters (temperature, pressure, H2O/CH4 content and presence/absence of CaO).

Simultaneous high hydrogen content-synthesis gas production and in-situ CO2 removal via sorption-enhanced reaction process: modeling, sensitivity analysis and multi-objective optimization using NSGA-II algorithm
The main focus of this study is improvement of the steam-methane reforming (SMR) process by in-situ CO2 removal to produce high hydrogen content synthesis gas. Sorption-enhanced (SE) concept is applied to improve process performance. In the proposed structure, the solid phase CO2 adsorbents and pre-reformed gas stream are introduced to a gas-flowing solids-fixed bed reactor (GFSFBR). One dimens...
متن کاملMultifunctional Pd/Ni-Co Catalyst for Hydrogen Production by Chemical Looping Coupled Sorption Enhanced Steam Reforming of Acetic Acid
High yield of H2 of high purity from acetic acid, a model compound of bio-oil from the biomass fast pyrolysis, was produced by sorption enhanced steam reforming (SESR). An oxygen carrier was introduced into a chemical loop (CL) coupled to the cyclical SESR process to supply heat in situ for the endothermic sorbent regeneration, in order to increase the energy efficiency of the process. A new mu...
متن کاملOptimization of Hydrogen Production by Chemical-Looping Auto- Thermal Reforming Working with Ni-based Oxygen-Carriers
Chemical-Looping auto-thermal Reforming (CLRa) is a new process for hydrogen production from natural gas that uses the same principles as Chemical-Looping Combustion (CLC). The main difference with CLC is that the desired product is syngas (H2 + CO) instead of CO2 + H2O. For that, in the CLRa process the air to fuel ratio is kept low to prevent the complete oxidation of the fuel. The major adva...
متن کاملThermodynamic Analysis of Light Olefins Production via Cracking of n-Hexane Using Gibbs Energy Minimization Approach and Analysis of Overall Reactions
Thermodynamic analysis of the cracking of hexane has been conducted by the Gibbs free energy minimization method and second law analysis of overall reactions. By-products have been divided into three groups of methane, alkynes and aromatics and their possible production paths have been discussed. Effect of operating conditions such as temperature and steam-to-hexane ratio on the cracking perfor...
متن کاملWaste lubricating oil as a source of hydrogen fuel using chemical looping steam reforming
Initial results are presented for the production of hydrogen from waste lubricating oil using a chemical looping reforming (CLR) process. The development of flexible and sustainable sources of hydrogen will be required to facilitate a ‘hydrogen economy’. The novel CLR process presented in this paper has an advantage over hydrogen production from conventional steam reforming because CLR can use ...
