Perturbation Theory Reloaded Ii: Non-linear Bias, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations and Millennium Simulation in Real Space
نویسندگان
چکیده
We calculate the non-linear galaxy power spectrum in real space, including non-linear distortion of the Baryon Acoustic Oscillations, using the standard 3rd-order perturbation theory (PT). The calculation is based upon the assumption that the number density of galaxies is a local function of the underlying, non-linear density field. The galaxy bias is allowed to be both non-linear and stochastic. We show that the PT calculation agrees with the galaxy power spectrum estimated from the Millennium Simulation, in the weakly non-linear regime (defined by the matter power spectrum) at high redshifts, 1 ≤ z ≤ 6. We also show that, once 3 free parameters characterizing galaxy bias are marginalized over, the PT power spectrum fit to the Millennium Simulation data yields unbiased estimates of the distance scale, D, to within the statistical error. This distance scale corresponds to the angular diameter distance, DA(z), and the expansion rate, H(z), in real galaxy surveys. Our results presented in this paper are still restricted to real space. The future work should include the effects of non-linear redshift space distortion. Nevertheless, our results indicate that non-linear galaxy bias in the weakly non-linear regime at high redshifts is reasonably under control. متن کاملPerturbation Theory Reloaded: Analytical Calculation of Nonlinearity in Baryonic Oscillations in the Real-space Matter Power Spectrum
We compare the nonlinear matter power spectrum in real space calculated analytically from third-order perturbation theory with N-body simulations at 1 < z < 6. We find that the perturbation theory prediction agrees with the simulations to better than 1% accuracy in the weakly nonlinear regime in which the dimensionless power spectrum, (k) 1⁄4 k P(k)/2 , which approximately gives the variance of...

The coupling of photons and baryons by Thomson scattering in the early universe imprints features in both the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and matter power spectra. The former have been used to constrain a host of cosmological parameters, the latter have the potential to strongly constrain the expansion history of the universe and dark energy. Key to this program is the means to localize t...

We use 5000 cosmological N -body simulations of 1hGpc box for the concordance ΛCDM model in order to study the sampling variances of nonlinear matter power spectrum. We show that the non-Gaussian errors can be important even on large length scales relevant for baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO). Our findings are (1) the non-Gaussian errors degrade the cumulative signal-to-noise ratios (S/N) for...
متن کاملConstraints on the dark energy equation of state from acoustic oscillations in the power spectrum of clusters
Acoustic oscillations in the baryon-photon fluid are imprinted on the matter power spectrum at recombination. Using the Λ cold dark matter Hubble Volume N-body simulation, we show that these oscillations are visible in the power spectrum of clustermass dark matter haloes, in spite of significant differences between the halo power spectrum and the prediction of linear perturbation theory. The ov...
