Localized papular mucinosis with IgA nephropathy: a case report.

چکیده
BACKGROUND Papular mucinosis is an idiopathic cutaneous mucinosis. It includes 3 clinicopathologic subsets according to the recent Rongioletti classification: a generalized papular form, a localized form, and atypical forms. The localized form is subdivided into 5 subtypes. The atypical form does not meet the criteria for either the generalized papular form or the localized forms and includes localized forms with monoclonal gammopathy and/or systemic symptoms. OBSERVATIONS We describe a 37-year-old man who had multiple small, waxy papular lesions on the neck for 4 years. One year after the lesions first appeared, he developed IgA nephropathy. No paraproteinemia or thyroid dysfunction was observed. Histologic examination of the skin lesions showed mucin deposits in the upper dermis. Alcian blue-positive mucin was also found in the renal interstitium and around some vessels and capillary loops. A diagnosis of localized papular mucinosis with IgA nephropathy (atypical form) was made after the biopsy. CONCLUSIONS The patient showed an unusual manifestation of localized papular mucinosis with the lesions confined to the neck and IgA nephropathy. Alcian blue staining is a useful way to determine kidney involvement of papular mucinosis.

Acral papular mucinosis: a new case of this rare entity*
Acral persistent papular mucinosis (APPM) is a rare subtype of localized lichen myxedematosus. It consists of small papules localized exclusively on the back of the hands, wrists and extensor aspects of distal forearms with no other clinical or laboratory manifestations. The lesions tend to persist and may increase slowly in number. Histologically, hematoxylin-eosin and Alcian blue staining dem...
متن کامل[Papular mucinosis associated with hypothyroidism].
Papular mucinosis or lichen myxedematosus is an idiopathic disorder characterized by papules, nodules or plaques caused by mucin deposition in the dermis, in the absence of thyroid disease. The present report describes an atypical case with exuberant lesions in the form of plaques, associated with subclinical hypothyroidism. In cutaneous mucinosis, there is an abnormal quantity of mucin in the ...
متن کاملReport of a Case of Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy in a Patient Without a Family History of Kidney Disease
Introduction: IgA Nephropathy is the most common form of glomerulonephritis and the major cause of end-stage renal disease. Gross or microscopic hematuria is a common symptom of hematuria and occurs in less than 5% to 10% of patients with IGM with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic biomarkers of this disease after biopsy. Methods: IgA...
