چکیده

The goal of control law design for haptic displays is to provide a safe and stable user interface while maximizing the operator’s sense of kinesthetic immersion in a virtual environment. This paper outlines a control design approach which stabilizes a haptic interface when coupled to a broad class of human operators and virtual environments. Two-port absolute stability criteria are used to develop explicit control law design bounds for two different haptic display implementations: impedance display and admittance display. The strengths and weaknesses of each approach are illustrated through numerical and experimental results for a three degree-offreedom device. The example highlights the ability of the proposed design procedure to handle some of the more difficult problems in control law synthesis for haptics, including structural flexibility and non-collocation of sensors and actuators. This paper presents a survey on haptic technology, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence applications in medical training during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last few decades, there has been a great deal of interest in using new technologies to establish capable approaches for medical training purposes. These methods are intended to minimize surgerychr('39')s adverse effects, mostly w...

Keynote Address : Haptic Feedback for Virtual Reality

Haptic feedback is a crucial sensorial modality in virtual reality interactions. Haptics means both force feedback (simulating object hardness, weight, and inertia) and tactile feedback (simulating surface contact geometry, smoothness, slippage, and temperature). Providing such sensorial data requires desk-top or portable special-purpose hardware called haptic interfaces. Modeling physical inte...

Multifinger Haptic Interfaces for Collaborative Enviroments

Haptic interfaces provide users with force information while they are interacting with virtual objects, allowing them to perform manipulation tasks and cooperate. Multi-finger haptic interfaces benefit from the use of several fingers, thereby a large number of degrees of freedom are processed, to improve interaction with virtual environments and increase the sense of immersion. This chapter int...

November 2000 Symposium on Haptic Interfaces for Teleoperation and Virtual Reality, Asme International Congress and a High-bandwidth Force-controlled Haptic Interface

The design and control of a 5 degree-of-freedom (DOF) haptic interface that provides accurate rendering of forces as well as a large range of motion is presented. We review a number of design approaches that have been considered in other haptic interfaces and the reasons for choosing a parallel mechanism for our design. The choice and motivation for the actuators, sensors, and materials used ar...
