چکیده
A semi-empirical model of the ensemble-averaged differential Mueller matrix for microwave backscattering from bare soil surfaces is presented. Based on existing scattering models and data sets measured by polarimetric scatterometers and the JPL AirSAR, the parameters of the co-polarized phase-difference probability density function, namely the degree of correlation and the co-polarized phase-difference , in addition to the backscattering coefficients 0 , 0 and 0 , are modeled empirically in terms of the volumetric soil moisture content and the surface roughness parameters and , where = 2 , is the rms height and is the correlation length. Consequently, the ensemble-averaged differential Mueller matrix (or the differential Stokes scattering operator) is specified completely by 0 , 0 , 0 , , and

متن کاملImprovement of Bare Soil Semi-Empirical Radar Backscattering Models (Oh and Dubois) with SAR Multi-Spectral Satellite Data (X-, C- and L-Bands)
The objective of this study is to improve the performance of semi-empirical radar backscatter models, which are mainly used in microwave remote sensing (Oh 1992, Oh 2004 and Dubois). The study is based on satellite and ground data collected on bare soil surfaces during the Multispectral Crop Monitoring experimental campaign of the CESBIO laboratory in 2010 over an agricultural region in southwe...

Dielectric constant values of the samples of soil of Alwar (at various moist states) have been calculated using wave guide cell method at a single microwave frequency 9.78 GHz at 33C. The Backscattering coefficients for rough and bare soil surfaces 0 soil σ are calculated by Small Perturbation Model (SPM). Fresnal reflectivity of the soil surfaces which is an input parameter for SPM is calculat...
متن کاملEstimation of Radar Backscattering Coefficient of Soil Surface with Moisture Content at Microwave Frequencies
Co-plarized of radar backscattering coefficient 0 hh σ and 0 vv σ are estimated for soil surface using a standard theortical model IEM (Integrtion Eequation Model). The surface parameters for model are , dielectric constant and roughness, are determined by experimental technique. The real and imaginary parts ( ε' and ε") of dielectric constant of soil determine by wave guide cell method at a si...
متن کاملEffects of corn on c- and l-band radar backscatter: a correction method for soil moisture retrieval
Past research has demonstrated the potential of mapping soil moisture using both low frequency passive and active microwave measurements (e.g. Jackson et al., 1999; Wagner & Scipal, 2000). This resulted in formulating satellite missions carrying L-band microwave sensors capable of monitoring soil moisture globally. For example, a microwave radiometer has recently been launched by European Space...
