Microscopic-Macroscopic Models Systems Integration: A Simulation Case Study for ATMIS
نویسندگان
چکیده
This article proposes the integration of both microscopic and macroscopic simulation and focuses on two main issues: a methodology for calibration/validation and the integration of path dynamics on large networks. These are considered the most significant two challenges in microscopic simulation for decision support and analysis in Advanced Traffic Management and Information Systems (ATMIS). Then a methodology is described that brings to microscopic simulation the kind of capabilities for path processing and storage normally found only with macroscopic models, often due to the network representation being less detailed for those. This is based on a hybrid simulation approach. The example of integrating the Paramics microscopic simulation with the routing and behavior response simulation schemes as in the DYNASMART macroscopic model is used to explain a candidate methodology to enhance microscopic models for the evaluation of information/routing schemes in ATMIS.

متن کاملCellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches
The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...
متن کاملSimulation of Pedestrian Dynamics with Macroscopic and Microscopic Mathematical Models
Here, we collect two parts of a research project on the pedestrian flow modeling. Rapid growth in the volume of public transport and the need for its reasonable, efficient planning have made the description and modeling of transport and pedestrian behaviors as important research topics in the past twenty years. First, we present a macroscopic model for the pedestrian flow based on continuum mec...
متن کاملHybrid microscopic-mesoscopic traffic simulation
Traffic simulation is an important tool for modelling the operations of dynamic traffic systems and helps analyse the causes and potential solutions of traffic problems such as congestion and traffic safety. Microscopic simulation models provide a detailed representation of the traffic process, which makes them most suitable for evaluation of complicated traffic facilities and Intelligent Trans...
متن کاملDeveloping a Model of Heterogeneity in Driver’s Behavior
Intelligent Driver Model (IDM) is a well-known microscopic model of traffic flow within the traffic engineering societies. While it is a powerful technique for modeling traffic flows, the Intelligent Driver Model lacks the potential of accommodating the notion of drivers’ heterogeneous behavior whenever they are on roads. Concerning the above mentioned, this paper takes the lane to recognize th...
