چکیده

ateral epicondylitis, or tennis elbow, is the most common cause of lateral elbow pain and can be a major cause of symptoms and debilitation.1 The term “lateral epicondylitis” is a misnomer, in that the abnormality causing tennis elbow is degeneration and a possible tear of the common extensor tendon (CET) at or near its humeral origin.2 Histologic studies have shown that there is no significant inflammation associated with chronic tennis elbow; therefore, the term “tendinitis” is not appropriate.3 Moreover, hyperemia on color and power Doppler imaging has been shown to represent neovascularity and not inflammation.3 Sonography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be used to confirm clinically suspected tennis elbow and to exclude other causes of lateral elbow pain.1,2 Such imaging can reveal the extent of the tendon abnormality and also show a coexisting abnormality of the radial collateral ligament (RCL), which lies immediately Jon A. Posterior dislocation of the elbow associated with fracture of the radial head and olecranon, and with medial collateral ligament disruption: A case report

INTRODUCTION Fracture dislocations of the elbow appear extremely complex. Identification of the basic injury patterns can facilitate management. CASE PRESENTATION A 38-year-old male motor-vehicle driver who fell on his right elbow after an accident was suffering from posterior dislocation of the elbow, without coronoid fracture, and with fracture of the radial head and olecranon, and medial c...

Short- to medium-term outcomes of radial head replacement arthroplasty in posttraumatic unstable elbows: 20 to 70 months follow-up.

BACKGROUND The radial head is considered the main stabilizer of the elbow when the medial collateral ligament and lateral ulnar collateral ligament have been compromised. Radial head replacement (RHR) is indicated for patients with irreparable or non-united radial head fractures associated with elbow stiffness or instability. The present study aimed to analyze the clinical results after treatme...

Complex elbow instability: surgical management of elbow fracture dislocations

There are three main patterns of complex elbow instability: posterolateral (terrible triad), varus posteromedial (anteromedial coronoid fracture with lateral collateral ligament complex disruption), and trans-olecranon fracture dislocations.Radial head fractures, in the setting of complex elbow instability, often require internal fixation or arthroplasty; the outcome of radial head replacement ...

Irreducible elbow dislocation associated with a radial neck fracture: a case report.

A rare case of an irreducible elbow dislocation is described. We discuss the causes of irreducibility and the treatment options. Intraoperative assessment of joint stability, repair of the lateral collateral ligament and appropriate postoperative management led to an excellent 5-year outcome, obviating the need for an external fixator or a radial head replacement.

Elbow Dislocation with Complete Triceps Avulsion

Radio-ulnar Fracture dislocation of the elbow is a high-energy trauma which can be associated with significant ligamentous injury in adults. We report an unusual triad of injury in a patient with avulsion injury of the triceps. This injury can be thought of as a variant of "terrible triad" with dislocation of radio-ulnar joint, radial head fracture, and medial collateral ligament injury with av...
